This essay was published in 1788 in response to an article that argued against the ratification of the U.S. Constitution
He tells you that the President will have more power than many Princes in Europe; --The President has not, in many instances, as much power as the Governor
of this state. He tells you also that the President has the power to call out the Militia, when, and how he pleases; this is not a fact. The power of calling out the
Militia is vested in Congress:-Congress ought to have the power of calling out the Militia in cases of invasions or insurrections; for instance, if our State was to
be invaded by a numerous enemy, too powerful for our Militia to oppose, ought not Congress to have power to call on the Militia of the other States to assist
us? Surely they ought: Or are we to be destroyed because we have not force sufficient to drive the enemy from amongst us? This is the monstrous power
which the Congress have over the Militia, and which this man relates such frightful tales about. --The Governor of this state has more power over the Militia of
the State than the President will have over the militia of the United States.
According to the essay, what is the effect of dividing control of the military power of the United States between Congress and the president?
ОА. limiting the military powers of the states
OB providing assistance to the state governors
C. preventing the consolidation of power in one individual
D. ensuring protection against invasion by a foreign force

Answer 1

Answer:I think it should be c

Answer 2

The essay discusses the consequences of giving Congress and the president equal authority over the country's military.

The correct answer is (C), preventing the consolidation of power in one individual.

In the essay, the author refutes claims made in a piece that opposed ratification of the United States Constitution. The author disputes the assertion that the President will possess more authority than many European princes.

The author also notes that Congress has the authority to call up the militia, negating the President's ability to do so.In order to prevent the concentration of power in the hands of one person, the author contends that Congress should have the authority to mobilize the militia in the event of invasions or insurrections. This would guarantee defense against an invasion by an outside force. Consequently, the result of giving Congress and the president equal authority over the country's military might is that

Therefore, the correct answer is option (C), preventing the consolidation of power in one individual.

Describe European treatment of Africans

Did the Europeans treat the Africans fairly? Explain your answer in a paragraph of 125 words.

Answers

Answer:

No, the Europeans did not treat Africans fairly.

Explanation:

The Europeans did not treat Africans fairly because of an event called the slave trade. This was Europeans buying and selling Africans for use of slavery. They were beaten and starved and they wear given the worst conditions. If they were not strong enough they would get killed. Europeans would either buy, trade, or sell them as slaves to other countries and people.  Slavery still exists in a few countries to this day. Ownership of slaves provided not only economic benefits but also social status.

European treatment of Africans during the era of the slave trade and colonization was characterized by exploitation, cruelty, and disregard for their dignity and rights. The transatlantic slave trade subjected Africans to capture, transportation, and sale as commodities, causing immeasurable suffering by tearing families apart and disrupting communities. European colonization imposed dominance through brutality, seizing land, enforcing labor, and erasing local cultures. This treatment was unequivocally unfair, driven by economic gain and power. Africans faced violence, forced labor, and cultural suppression. The enduring legacy of this injustice is seen in ongoing social, economic, and cultural disparities. Acknowledging these historical wrongs is crucial for pursuing justice and equality.

What was the most impactful part of this speech and why do you think MLK wrote this speech now that you have learned more about Dr. King? I HAD A DREAM SPEECH

Answers

Answer:

The most impactful part of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech is likely the repetition and emotional delivery of the phrase "I have a dream" and the imagery it evokes of a future in which racial equality has been achieved. The speech, which was delivered on August 28, 1963, during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, was a call for an end to racism and discrimination against African Americans in the United States.

In the speech, King draws on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, as well as the Bible, to argue that all people, regardless of race, are entitled to the same rights and opportunities. He also emphasizes the importance of nonviolent protest and peaceful civil disobedience in the struggle for civil rights.

King likely wrote this speech at this time because it was a pivotal moment in the Civil Rights Movement. The March on Washington was one of the largest civil rights rallies in history, and it brought together more than 200,000 people, including representatives of many different ethnic and religious groups, to demand equal rights for African Americans. King's speech was a powerful call to action that helped to galvanize support for the Civil Rights Movement and to inspire future generations to continue the struggle for equality and justice.

Explanation:

Answer: King's “Dream” speech would play an important role in helping pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and the pivotal Selma to Montgomery march that he led in 1965 would provide momentum for the passage later that year of the Voting Rights Act.

Snake Story
Becky moved off of the porch slowly, backing through the door and into the house. She slammed the sliding glass door shut and stood for a moment, relieved to have something solid between her and the snake on the porch.
The glass was cool under her hands despite her pounding heart. She tried to slow her breathing. She was safe, at last, inside. Or was she? How had that snake gotten into the screened-in and walled-up back porch. If it could get in there, it's possible it could get inside where she was as well.
Becky wasn't someone who was normally skittish about wild things. She'd handled snakes before, picked up lizards many times, caught frogs in the garage and let them go. But snakes seemed to always catch her off guard. They would turn up when least expected. She would see them out of the corner of her eye and just the surprise of it would make her jump; her adrenalin would pump, her heart would thump, and her panic would take over.
What was she going to do? She couldn't just stand there waiting for the snake to decide to leave. What if it were venomous? It didn't look like a viper, but it could be. She would need to get out there soon to water the plants.
"What this requires is some advanced planning," she said out loud to her cat, Louie. "And, I will probably have to go 'once more into the fray' kitty," she said, looking in the cat's direction for emphasis.
"First things first, though," she said. The cat meowed back. It often did that, having become used to being talked to. "Let's look that fellow up," Becky said walking to her bookshelf.
"Let's see, snakes," she said, thumbing through her reptile and amphibian identification book. "It's brown and gray, with some black. With a pattern that looks ... there it is," she said thumping the page so hard that Louie jumped. "Not venomous," she said, triumphantly.
"It's an oak snake, Louie," she returned the book and strode over to her closet. "Not venomous, but I am still not taking chances," she said.
She reached into the closet and pulled out her heaviest jacket. It was lined and stuffed thick with lots of padding. Then she found her mittens and a pair of rubber boots. She knew even non-venomous snakes would sometimes threaten to strike when scared. "And that threat would work on me," Becky said aloud again, though Louie had no idea what she was talking about.
"It's 90 degrees outside, Louie," she said, "so get the iced lemonade ready for when I return."
It wasn't much of a plan, but it was the best she could come up with. With her armor on, she was already sweating when she slowly pushed open the sliding glass door and stepped back on to the porch.
She was pretty sure the snake would slither away from her presence. She propped open the outside door, and hoped she could shoo the snake in that direction.
Sweat dampened her arms and collected on her face. She spread her arms out, and took a few steps toward the snake. There was so much for it to hide beneath. Becky regretted the rocking chairs and all the plant stands between where the snake was in the corner and the door to the outside.
At first it seemed like the snake was just going to remain where it was, flicking its tongue every now and then. Becky waved her arms, lunged in its direction, and stomped her feet. It sat there, coiled in the corner, as if perfectly happy to remain there. In a fit of desperation, she picked up one side of the rocking chair the snake was under and let it drop. The snake jumped, raised its head like it was going to strike, and then stayed right where it was.
"Snake," Becky said, "This is not how it works. You have got to go." The snake moved its head back and forth, swaying a bit, and that gave Becky an idea.
She had read somewhere that snakes can "hear" thanks to the ability to process vibrations through the bone in their jaw. This awareness of vibrations in the ground was one reason it was very hard to sneak up on snakes. She quickly realized that getting the snake out was going to be a lot easier than she had thought.
Becky turned on the radio she kept on the porch and lowered it to the ground, pointing in the snake's direction. She adjusted the controls so that the bass was as high as it could go. Then she cranked up the volume. She envisioned the snake swaying to the sounds of "Dancing Queen by Abba, and then leaving the porch and going far far away.
Coming back into the house she began peeling off the now damp armaments she had put on earlier. "Louie, there is more than one way to skin a snake," she said laughing. She watched as the snake uncoiled and moved cautiously in the direction of the door. Bending down to pick up Louie Becky sighed and stroked his head. "'Cause no one ever wants to skin a cat sweetie
The glass was cool under her hands despite her pounding heart. She tried to slow her breathing. She was safe at last inside.

How might you feel if you were someone who lived in Athens, but who could not be a citizen and participate in the world’s first democracy? How do you think you might be able to contribute to society in a fulfilling and rewarding way?

Answers

Answer:

In Athens, the people governed, and the majority ruled. All citizens had equal rights and powers. In a city-state as small as Athens, a pure democracy was possible. As states grew larger, the notion of electing representatives to make decisions for the public became more practical.

Not everyone in Athens was considered a citizen. Only free, adult men enjoyed the rights and responsibility of citizenship. The Athenian definition of “citizens” was also different from modern-day citizens: only free men were considered citizens in Athens. Women, children, and slaves were not considered citizens and therefore could not vote.

This excluded a majority of the population: slaves, freed slaves, children, women and metics (foreign residents in Athens). The women had limited rights and privileges, had restricted movement in public, and were very segregated from the men. I would contribute by trying the best I can to support and help all of these people in my own whether it be getting jobs helping financially or just doing something small such as bringing food. Protesting would be a big part as well. Especially when it comes to this. I think I would just feel downright furious because of this. It's outrageous.

To be a citizen of Athens, both your mother and father had to be citizens. You could not have been born in a different country or in another Greek city. All Athenian citizens had the right to vote in the Assembly, debate, own land and own slaves. All Athenian citizens were expected to have military training, be educated, pay their taxes and serve Athens in times of war. Any citizen over the age of thirty whose name is drawn for the Boule must comply.

Yea you should because it is worth it for your future

And while every student understands that plagiarism is wrong, a growing number of educators have suggested that students are confused about what it actually is. Can we really blame them?Plagiarism is typically defined as taking someone elses work or ideas and attempting to pass them off as ones own, without citing the original author. For schools, this usually means that a student cuts and pastes sentences from another writers work. Students should understand not to do this. However, plagiarism could also mean that a student takes another line of thought and pretends that he or she came up with it on his or her own. And that is where it gets very confusing for students. They are unsure of exactly what constitutes an original thought. For instance, if they make an argument in a paper, how can they be sure that they are the first to make that argument? This is especially frustrating, because they can actually assume that they are not the first to make any argument. Very little novelty can actually be applied to Ulysses or an essay about the War of 1812. Most academic subjects have been overanalyzed by previous generations. Thus, issues of plagiarism tend to boil down to something very subtle: not originality of thought but originality of presentation.Passage 2In the last decade, Bob Dylan has been accused of stealing lines from other writers works. Bloggers and various Dylan devotees (and there are millions of people obsessed with him) found striking similarities between some of his song lyrics and passages from an obscure Japanese memoir called Confessions of a Yakuza. Later, the same people accused him of stealing lines from poems by Henry Timrod, a poet who died nearly 150 years ago, But, while he likely did take some lines from various sources and presented them as his own, is this actually theft? In a word, no. There is a great difference between plagiarism and artistic quoting. Jazz and folk music both have a long tradition of sampling sections of earlier songs. In fact, some of Dylans best-known original hits are based on early folk melodies. For instance, Blowin in the Wind uses more or less the same melody as No More Auction Block, an old slave song. For an artist of any kind, pure originality is impossible. What makes something original is the way its various parts are put together to make a new whole.
