ssuming that these traits are sorting in a mendelian way, and given that you collected 800 plants from a cross of your street plant with your f1, how many plants do you expect that have red

Answers

Answer 1

Self pollination occurs before the flowers open, so progeny are produced from a single plant.

He chose peas because they had been used for similar studies, are easy to grow, and can be grown every year. Pea flowers contain male and female parts, called the stamen and stigma, and are usually selfpollinating. To do so, he first established lines of peas with two different forms of a feature, such as tall vs short height. He bred these lines for generations until they were pure and always produced offspring identical to the parents, then crossed them with each other and watched as the traits were inherited. Mendel studied seven characters of the pea plant in his experiments. The characters chosen by Mendel were seed color, seed shape, stem height, flower color, flower position, pod color, and pod shape. He showed that traits are faithfully passed from parent to offspring in specific patterns.

Sooo Drakes are dragons and it was in a virtual lab and this is about meiosis. I dont really know how

Answers

Answer:

ok, I'm gonna answer this as best as I can. basically, offspring don't look exactly like either parents because half of their genetic makeup comes from the mom, the other from the dad. and the genetics from each parent are always different for each sibling. the certain features each parent gives to their offspring are random. if one parent had a dominant trait for one feature, and the other parent has a recessive, the dominant overrides the recessive and the dominant trait is the phenotype (physical appearance). just because an offspring doesn't have the phenotype of a certain trait doesn't mean they don't have the genotype (the trait's gene) and that they can't. pass it onto their offspring in the future. I hope that makes sense, I tried my best! kinda hard to explain because I'm only 14 and just learned this stuff this year haha.

9. Natural selection explains how ______
change as their environments

Answers

Answer:

Organisms

Explanation:

Natural selection is when organisms adapt to their environment due to "survival of the fittest".

What is evolution?
When an individual develops the traits
needed to survive and reproduce
An immediate change in a population as
a result of environmental demands
When a population stays the same
reguarless of environmental demands
When a population changes as a result
of natural selection which is driven by
environmental demands

Answers

Answer:

When an individual develops the traits

needed to survive and reproduce

Explanation:

the second option is wrong because evolution isn't an immediate change but takes thousands to millions of years depending on what is evolving.

The third option is close but the difference is natural selection is when weaker animals of a species die out while the stronger ones survive for example, when one bird hatches before the other the hatched bird may push the egg out of the nest to get more food. That is an example of natural selection. It is a part of evolution but not evolution itself.

The nucleotide sequence of a gene is transcribed into a nucleotide sequence of mRNA which is a template of DNA, which is read during translation in groups of three nucleotides that specify each amino acid.

The process through which a gene's information is utilized to create proteins is known as gene expression. Transcription and translation are two mechanisms involved in gene expression.

DNA is utilized as a template during transcription to create the sequence of mRNA.

A specific amino acid is designated by a codon, which is a group of three nucleotide bases that are read from the mRNA sequence during translation.

what causes less competition
A. different reproductive habits of species
B. greater day/night temperature differences
C. greater differences between niches

Answers

Answer:

c

Explanation:

C. greater differences between niches.

A greater difference between niches results in less direct competition for resources. When species occupy different niches, their roles in the environment do not overlap significantly, and they can coexist with less interspecific competition. In contrast, if species have similar niches, they are in direct competition with each other, leading to reduced population sizes and potential extinction.

Different reproductive habits of species and greater day/night temperature differences have no direct effect on competition.

explain how prokaryotic falgella work and why they are not considered to be homologous to eukaryotic falgella

Answers

Prokaryotic flagella work by rotating, propelling the cell through its environment, but they are not considered to be homologous to eukaryotic flagella.

Prokaryotic flagella are composed of a filament, hook, and basal body. The basal body is embedded in the cell membrane and acts as a motor, powered by proton motive force, to rotate the filament. The rotation of the flagellum allows prokaryotic cells to move in response to stimuli such as chemicals or light.

Eukaryotic flagella, on the other hand, are structurally and functionally different from prokaryotic flagella. Eukaryotic flagella are complex, whip-like structures that contain a microtubule-based axoneme, composed of tubulin proteins. The movement of eukaryotic flagella is facilitated by the sliding of microtubule doublets, powered by ATP.

Although both prokaryotic and eukaryotic flagella are involved in cell motility, they evolved independently and are not considered homologous. Homology refers to the presence of a shared ancestry between structures, indicating a common evolutionary origin.

As a result of cellular differentiation, a stem cell might transform into a new type.Usually, the cell changes into a different kind that is more specialized. These changes result from changes in gene expression. Cell differentiation is demonstrated by how a single-celled zygote develops into a multicellular embryo and eventually into the complex multisystem of several cell types that is a fetus.

The length of an axon is 10 mm. at one end of the axon, a voltage change of 150 mv results in a change of about 1 mv at the opposite end. given this information, what is the approximate length constant of the neuron in mm

Answers

The length constant of a neuron is mm is 2mm.

What is neuron?

Neurons (also known as neurones or nerve cells) are the basic units of the brain and nervous system, responsible for absorbing sensory input from the outside world, transmitting motor commands to our muscles, and converting and relaying electrical signals at every step in between.

What is length constant of a neuron?

The duration over which a voltage change falls to around 37% of its starting value is known as the length constant.

In order to calculate the signal's distance, we can use the equation

150×\((0.37^{x} )\) = 1,

where x is the number of length constants it traversed.

We discover that x is roughly 5, which means that the length constant is \(\frac{100mm}{5}\) or 2 mm.

Meiosis and mitosis are similar because they both have prophase and an anaphase. Thus, option A is correct.

What is meiosis?

Meiosis is a reductional type of cell division in which half amount of genetic material is received by each daughter cells as parent cell. It is special type of cell division in which sexually reproducing organisms in which germ cells that are sperm or egg cells are produced.

Mitosis in contrast is somatic cell division in which each daughter cell receive the same number of chromosomes and which are similar to parent.

But, both the meiosis and mitosis processes occur during M phase of cell cycle. In prophase of both, condensing of chromosomes and separation of centrioles occur. So, in both the processes have similar steps called prophase and anaphase. Therefore, option A is correct.
