Final task to prepare (Blitz kids)
You were an evacuee during the Blitz in London, write down a testimony for your friends :
1/ Introduce your daily life and your family during the war, give the dates (be careful tenses)
2/ Describe when you arrived in the village, when you met your host family (obligation, feelings)
3/ Give information on your host family (members, attitude)
4/ Express your feelings towards your life in the countryside (positive and negative emotions)
5/ Explain your daily routine in the countryside (activities, obligation and permission and absence of permission)
6/ Make a sentence to conclude when you came back home (feelings and plans for the future)
I was an evacuee during the Blitz in London, starting in September 1939 until May 1945. My family and I lived in a quiet area of London, but with the war we had to leave our home in order to find safety. We were sent to a small village in the countryside, where we were welcomed by a lovely family.
When we arrived in the village, it was strange to be in such a peaceful place after months of bombings in London. We were welcomed by our host family with open arms, and I was so grateful for the kindness they showed us. Our host family consisted of two parents and three children, and they were so generous and caring.
I will never forget the feeling of safety and peace I felt in the countryside. I enjoyed being able to roam around freely, to go for walks and to make friends with the other children in the village. I had to help my host family with the farming, but it was something I really enjoyed. I also attended the local school and was able to have fun with my new friends.
At times I felt homesick and longed to be with my own family, but I was also content with my new life in the countryside. I was able to appreciate the simple things in life, such as the beauty of nature, the kindness of people and the joy of spending time with friends.
After the war was over, I returned home and was reunited with my family. I was so happy to be back home, but I will never forget my time in the countryside and the wonderful people I met during my stay. I am now looking forward to a brighter future and all the wonderful things that it has to offer.

Which part of this excerpt from Voltaire’s Candide best develops the theme that different people find value in different things? The mountains which surround my kingdom are ten thousand feet high, and as steep as walls; they are each over ten leagues in breadth, and there is no other way to descend them than by precipices. However, since you absolutely wish to depart, I shall give orders to my engineers to construct a machine that will convey you very safely. When we have conducted you over the mountains no one can accompany you further, for my subjects have made a vow never to quit the kingdom, and they are too wise to break it. Ask me besides anything that you please." "We desire nothing of your Majesty," says Candide, "but a few sheep laden with provisions, pebbles, and the earth of this country." The King laughed. "I cannot conceive," said he, "what pleasure you Europeans find in our yellow clay, but take as much as you like, and great good may it do you." At once he gave directions that his engineers should construct a machine to hoist up these two extraordinary men out of the kingdom. Three thousand good mathematicians went to work; it was ready in fifteen days, and did not cost more than twenty million sterling in the specie of that country. They placed Candide and Cacambo on the machine. There were two great red sheep saddled and bridled to ride upon as soon as they were beyond the mountains, twenty pack-sheep laden with provisions, thirty with presents of the curiosities of the country, and fifty with gold, diamonds, and precious stones. The King embraced the two wanderers very tenderly.
Answer:
Excerpt from Voltaire's Candide
Theme: Different people find value in different things.
The theme above is best developed by the request of Earth made by Candide and Cacambo. The king regards this "Earth" as "yellow clay."
Explanation:
It can be inferred from the excerpt that the European visitors know the value of "the earth of the country", which is for them like a productive mother that gives birth to innumerable children. But for the king and his countrymen, the earth was just mere "yellow clay," sterile and without value.
What one undervalues, another values immensely because there is a gap in their knowledge. Abundance of some resources fools those who dwell on top of the resources. Whereas for those who understand the rarity of the resources, they experience scarcity of it because the demand for the resources would outstrip the supply. This is paradoxical.

The relationship between Eisenhower's experience in World War II and the creation of interstate highways was the need for modernity.
What made him want to install interstate highways? He observed the German highway system. He noted how modern and efficient it was.He realized how much it speeded up transport.Eisenhower was a man who wanted progress to hit America very quickly. For that reason, when he realized that the interstate highway system was modern, attractive, and promising, he knew that Americans deserved it too.

if you were going to pick one color to connect with daisy buchanan what color would it be
If I were to pick one color to connect with Daisy Buchanan from "The Great Gatsby," it would be white.
Throughout the novel, Daisy is often associated with the color white, which symbolizes purity, innocence, and beauty. For example, when Nick first sees Daisy and Jordan, they are both wearing white dresses and are described as "buoyed up as though upon an anchored balloon" (Fitzgerald 12). This imagery suggests that Daisy is pure and untouchable, much like an angel.
Additionally, Daisy's name itself is a type of white flower, further emphasizing her connection to the color. However, it is important to note that Daisy's association with white is ironic, as she is far from innocent and pure. She is selfish, manipulative, and ultimately responsible for the death of Myrtle Wilson.
In conclusion, the color white is closely connected to Daisy Buchanan in "The Great Gatsby," symbolizing her outward appearance of purity and innocence, while also highlighting the contrast between her outward appearance and her true nature.

Use a comma earlier than a coordinating conjunction (and, but, yet, so, or nor, for) whilst it joins entire ideas (unbiased clauses). Use a comma after an introductory clause or word. A comma tells readers that the introductory clause or word has come to a near and that the principle a part of the sentence is about to start.Use a comma to split every object in a chain; a chain is a collection of 3 or extra items having the identical feature and shape in a sentence. These nonessential clauses are referred to as nonrestrictive. Clauses which might be vital are referred to as restrictive.
