What is a central idea in flood myths from around the world?.

Answers

Answer 1

The central idea in flood myths from around the world is the occurrence of a catastrophic flood that serves as a cleansing or purging force, often leading to the rebirth or renewal of life.

In flood myths across different cultures, the central idea revolves around the belief that floods are not just natural disasters, but rather significant events with symbolic meaning. These myths typically depict a divine or supernatural intervention, where a flood is sent to cleanse the world of corruption, sin, or impurity. The flood serves as a reset button, wiping away the old and making way for a new beginning.

The flood myths often feature a hero or chosen individuals who are warned in advance or given instructions to build an ark or vessel to survive the flood and preserve life. After the flood subsides, there is a sense of rebirth and renewal, where the hero or survivors emerge to repopulate the earth and start afresh. The central idea of these myths emphasizes the cyclical nature of life, the idea of purification, and the hope for a better future after the devastation of the flood.

Who is Marian Anderson?Singer Marian Anderson displayed vocal talent as a child, but her family could not afford to pay for formal training. Members of her church congregation raised funds for her to attend a music school for a year, and in 1955 she became the first African American singer to perform as a member of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.Despite Anderson's success, not all of America was ready to receive her talent. In 1939, her manager tried to set up a performance for her at Washington, D.C.'s Constitution Hall. But the owners of the hall, the Daughters of the American Revolution, informed Anderson and her manager that no dates were available. That was far from the truth. The real reason for turning Anderson away lay in a policy put in place by the D.A.R. that committed the hall to being a place strictly for white performers.

Answer:

The greasers are sort of like the gangsters, there not rich, they have messy/greasy hair (which is where they get their nickname), and they're tough. The Socs are the rich kids, the act mean and selfish and they think that they are better than the greasers. The main source of tension between these two groups is how they're not able to fully understand each other, they always act tough and mean around each other. The two groups really aren't so different, besides money-wise, and all they needed was to get to know one another to become friends.

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

"They're" is a contraction of they are, which would best complete the sentence. "Theyre" wouldn't be correct as there's no apostrophe to make it a contraction, so it's not correct. "Their" is type of pronoun. "There" is simply an adverb, so "they're" would be the best choice. Hope this helped!

In an argumentative structure, Machiavelli supports his assertion that a prince must ruin a city used to freedom if he wants to maintain it by using reasoning and an example as proof.

What is the most important lesson in The Prince?

According to Machiavelli, strong laws come inevitably from strong armies. In The Prince, he analyzes how emerging nations and conflict interact, saying that "the presence of sound armed forces signals the presence of sound laws." Machiavelli claims that victorious war is the very cornerstone upon which all nations are founded, in contrast to the common view of war as a necessary but not conclusive part of state growth.

The Prince spends a lot of time defining what it means to wage a good war, including how to successfully defend a city, how to deal with subjects in recently conquered territory, and how to avert internal unrest that might detract from a successful battle.

The Tell Tale Heart

By: Edgar Allen Poe

Claim: The storyteller believes that he is not crazy although he is.

From the beginning the narrator was attempting to convince the reader that he was not crazy although he was bothered over his neighbors eye. The pace of the story-line began from the narrator admitting how he had a bad feeling whenever the old man's vulture eye looked at the narrator but didn't think that the narrator was crazy over it. Soon enough throughout the story the narrator was driven crazy over the vulture looking eye from the old man and decided to kill the old man. Although from the readers perspective it seems too look like the narrator was crazy, the narrator did not think so. The narrator had planned very meticulously over the thought of killing to old man and acted out on it. Once the deed was done, the police came by to check because a neighbor reported suspicious activity by the old man's home. The narrator let the police in the house to search it and the narrator had explained how the old man was gone to visit a friend out in the country and the police believed him. But the narrator's guilt got to him and put him on edge. He behaved more and more suspicious and finally let a cry out of admitting to killing the man because the narrator thought the policemen were on to him. The way that the mood affected me was that the narrator had begun to admit that he was a normal person, perfectly fine. But once the narrator put out the exposition it started to give out the expression that he was crazy and him denying that he wasn't crazy made the narrator even more suspicious. To conclude my claim, I see that narrator is genuinely crazy and that even though he convinced his own self and attempted to prove the reader he wasn't crazy, in the end he was.
