The formation of a political community with shared values and interests
The development of a doctrine including church and state
The formation of churches in urban areas
The expansion of Christianity in neighboring states

Answers

Additionally, Anti-Federalists were concerned about the lack of a Bill of Rights in the Constitution. The Anti-Federalists were more concerned with states' rights than with individual rights. The Anti-Federalists opposed the new Constitution for a variety of reasons, including concerns that the new Constitution would be too powerful.

Arab Spring was succeeded in overthrowing dictators but it became a fail venture due to several reasons: The regimes established in the wake of Arab Spring were not competent enough to address the economic and social problems and develop their trust in the masses. The increase in the influence of foreign powers and rise of non-state actors is also one of the major reasons of failure.

In Tunisia on 18th Dec 2010 Muhammad Buaziz a Fruit vendor set himself on fire in his hometown Sidi Bouzid and triggered the Arab Spring. Diana observed that the tribe had a cognatic lineage as the children used to choose to claim inheritance from either of their parents. The tribe was arranged in the form of a patrilineal where people claimed relationship to an ancestor through a series of male links.

What is a cognatic lineage?

A cognatic lineage, also known as a bilateral lineage, is a descent system in which individuals trace their ancestry and inheritance through both their male and female lines of descent. In other words, individuals can claim inheritance and kinship connections from both their father's and mother's side of the family.

This is in contrast to patrilineal or matrilineal descent systems, where descent and inheritance are traced exclusively through either the male or female line, respectively. Cognatic lineages are often characterized by a greater emphasis on bilateral kinship ties and a more egalitarian distribution of rights and responsibilities among both male and female members.

The Berlin Airlift was a major effort, primarily but not exclusively by the British, to maintain supply lines to West Berlin when the USSR refused to let supplies be delivered by road, rail, or ship. It continued for 11 months before the USSR backed down and allowed normal import of supplies to the city again. This was a victory for capitalism, as the cooperation between capitalist countries allowed West Berlin to resist the USSR's demands. It also prevented the USSR from controlling the entirety of Berlin, which would have likely led to a communist Germany and thus left capitalist Europe one nation poorer.

Grant suspended habeas corpus as he went after the ____ after the 1871 _______ Act.

Answers

Answer:

April 20, 1871

By ANDREW GLASS 04/20/2019 09:54 AM EDT

In the aftermath of the Civil War, the ratification of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution sought to extend legal protections to former slaves while barring states from disenfranchising voters “on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”

But there was opposition, especially in the South, to granting African Americans their constitutionally mandated legal rights. Members of the Ku Klux Klan terrorized blacks for seeking to exercise their right to vote, running for public office, and serving on juries.

In response, in 1870 and 1871, the Reconstructionist Congress passed a series of Enforcement Acts in (also known as the Force Acts) to curb such violence and empower the president to use military force to protect the rights of African Americans.

The Third Force Act, also known as the KKK or the Civil Rights Act of 1871, empowered President Ulysses S. Grant to use the armed forces to combat those who conspired to deny equal protection of the laws and, if necessary, to suspend habeas corpus to enforce the act. Grant signed the legislation on this day in 1871. After the act’s passage, the president for the first time had the power to suppress state disorders on his own initiative and suspend the right of habeas corpus. Grant did not hesitate to use this authority.

Shortly after Congress approved the law, nine counties in South Carolina, where KKK terrorism was rampant, were placed under martial law and thousands of persons were arrested.

In 1883, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously held that it was unconstitutional for the federal government to penalize crimes such as assault and murder. It declared that the local governments have the power to penalize these crimes.

In United States v. Harris, also known as the Ku Klux case, four men were removed from a Crockett County, Tenn., jail by a KKK-affiliated group led by County Sheriff R.G. Harris. They were beaten and one of them was killed. A deputy sheriff tried, but failed, to prevent what occurred. The court ruled that an act to enforce the Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause applied only to state action and not to state inaction. Under this thinking, the 14th Amendment authorized the federal government to take remedial action only when state actions, not those of individuals, violated the amendment.

Since then, the Civil Rights Act of 1871 has been the subject of voluminous interpretation by the courts. The legal pendulum swung back in 1961, when the high court ruled that the statute could be applied to “override certain kinds of state laws”; to offer “a remedy where state law was inadequate”; and to provide “a federal remedy where the state remedy, though adequate in theory, was not available in practice.”

Today, sections of the 1871 Civil Rights Act that have survived court scrutiny can be invoked whenever a state actor violates a federally guaranteed right. They are most commonly employed to redress violations of constitutional protections against unreasonable search and seizure and in lawsuits alleging false arrest and police brutality.

Some African Americans were permitted to vote following the Revolution, but those rights were later taken away. How were those rights taken away, and do you feel that this practice was fair? Why or why not?

Answers

The way in which state governments restricted the vote of African Americans after the American Revolution was through the imposition of discriminatory clauses such as poll taxes, by means of which it was impossible to grant people with fewer resources; literacy tests, by means of which only people with a certain level of education (who were generally only white) could vote; and the demands that the ancestors of the voter be free, which meant that the vast majority of African Americans could not meet this requirement.

These requirements were clearly unjust, discriminatory and unconstitutional, since they violated the freedoms of these people and their right to equality, which in turn are part of the very essence of the United States as a nation.

Describe a social factor that affected westward expansion in the United States between 1800 and 1850, AND explain its short-term and long-term effects on the country’s history.

Answers

One social factor that affected westward expansion in the United States between 1800 and 1850 was the idea of Manifest Destiny. This belief, rooted in the notion of American exceptionalism, held that it was the country's destiny to expand its territory and spread its values across the continent.

In the short term, Manifest Destiny fueled the acquisition of new territories, such as the Louisiana Purchase, and the Mexican-American War, which resulted in the annexation of Texas and the cession of California and other western states.

However, this expansion also resulted in the forced removal and displacement of Native American populations, leading to conflict and bloodshed.

In the long term, Manifest Destiny contributed to the growth of the United States into a continental power, with significant economic and geopolitical influence. However, it also left a legacy of violence, displacement, and inequality, which continue to impact the country's social and political landscape today.
