Following many years of violence and political unrest, the Russian Revolution paved the way for communism to rise as a powerful political belief system throughout the world. It laid the groundwork for the Soviet Union's rise as a world power, competing with the United States during the Cold War.

What was the result of the Russian Revolution was it successful?

The Russian Revolution was, indeed, a success. The Bolshevik revolutionaries achieved their goals of destroying the old way of rule, executing Czar Nicholas II and his family, and establishing communist rule in Russia.

The primary causes of the Russian Revolution were widespread corruption and inefficiency within the czarist imperial government, growing discontent among peasants, workers, and soldiers, the monarchy's level of control over the Russian Orthodox Church, and the disintegration of the Imperial Russian Army during World War II.

Under what circumstances, if any, do you think a citizen in a representative democracy has the right to engage in civil disobedience? Explain your position.

Answers

Answer:

First, let's define civil disobedience. Oxford dictionary defines civil disobedience as, "the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest." This definition shows that civil disobedience is peaceful, meaning it does not physically hurt anyone.

For this reason, I believe that a citizen should always have the right to engage in civil disobedience. A democracy is built on hearing and representing the people. Civil disobedience is a great way for people to get their voices heard.

Some circumstances that warrant civil disobedience include the violation of rights, discrimination, or incompetent governments. One famous example of civil disobedience is Rosa Parks. She refused to give up her seat, despite the fact that it was against the law. In this case, she broke the law as a protest but still did not hurt anyone.

Please describe how the US fulfilled its providential fate by expanding, conquering, settling, and developing the West.

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The US fulfilled its providential fate by expanding, conquering, settling, and developing the West in that the federal government made every single effort it had in its hand to remove the Native American Indian tribes in order to facilitate the settling of white Americans to work the lands and make it productive.

This represented a good way to fulfill the United States' idea of Manifested Destiny, the belief system that the United States was blessed to expand and gain new territories. The Manifest Destiny was the best way the US government found to justify the annexation of the former Mexican territories such as California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. Or other territories such as Oregon County.

The Westward Expansion devastated the Native American Indians. The expansion removed the Indians from their original territories. White settlers started to occupy their territories under the protection of new legislation passed in the United States Congress.

Federal government legislation such as the Homestead Act, Dawes Act, and Reservation system negatively impacted Native American tribes.

how does international trade in America change America and affect Americans in the nineteenth century?

Answers

International trade in the nineteenth century brought both benefits and challenges to America and its people. It boosted economic growth, expanded consumer choices, and transformed cities, but also had negative impacts on certain industries and perpetuated the institution of slavery.

In the nineteenth century, international trade played a significant role in shaping America and impacting the lives of Americans.

One major change was the expansion of the American economy.

Increased trade allowed for the export of goods such as cotton, tobacco, and wheat, which stimulated economic growth and created job opportunities.

International trade also brought about the rise of port cities like New York and New Orleans, which became bustling centers of commerce.

The influx of goods from other countries also provided Americans with access to a wider range of products, enhancing their quality of life.

However, international trade also had its drawbacks.

The competition from imported goods often led to the decline of certain industries, particularly in the manufacturing sector.

Additionally, the reliance on exports made the American economy vulnerable to fluctuations in international markets.

Furthermore, the expansion of international trade contributed to the growth of the slave trade in America.

The demand for labor in cotton plantations led to the forced migration of millions of enslaved Africans, resulting in immense suffering and perpetuating racial inequality.

In conclusion, international trade in the nineteenth century brought both benefits and challenges to America and its people.

It boosted economic growth, expanded consumer choices, and transformed cities, but also had negative impacts on certain industries and perpetuated the institution of slavery.

gives citizens the right to protest their government's actions publicly
allows for the public to elect their representatives
allows the elected leader to veto legislation passed by the legislature
appoints a House of Representatives after electing a president
typically has more than one branch of government

Answers

Answer:

gives citizens the right to protest their government's actions publicly

allows for the public to elect their representatives

Explanation:

Final answer:

In modern democracies, citizens have the right to protest, the public elects representatives, elected leaders can veto legislature, and there is typically a separation of powers between multiple branches of government.

Appointing a House of Representatives after electing a President is not a universal feature of all democracies.

Explanation:

In a modern democracy, several aspects are generally true. First, democracy allows citizens the right to publicly protest their government's actions.

This is a fundamental element of freedom of speech and expression, which is usually protected under the constitution in democratic countries.

Second, a modern democracy allows the public to elect their representatives. This process takes place through regular, free, and fair elections where citizens have the right to vote.

Third, the elected leader has the power to veto legislation passed by the legislature, particularly in presidential systems.

Fourth, multi-branch system of government is a defining characteristic of a modern democracy; typically, a democratic government has a separation of power among three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial.

However, the statement that a House of Representatives is appointed after electing a president is not universally correct.

In many democracies, members of the lower house (which is often, but not always, called the House of Representatives) are elected, not appointed.

when they call you a terrorist a black lives matter memoir summary

Answers

I even stopped myself for a while after George Floyd’s murder. A simple Black Lives Matter comment on my part in support of the fact the Black lives do indeed matter caused quite a few people to come and try and educate me on the facts as they saw them about BLM, the organization not actual lives.

My course of action was to recommend a memoir, When They Call You a Terrorist, a memoir by one of the Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Khan-Culllors.

The perspectives that we develop in recent times are often shaped by what we see in the news and soundbites, social media, out of context quotes and hearsay. However the art of listening and learning from another’s perspective or story can get lost. Khan-Cullors story doesn’t begin at BLM, it begins with a family affected by mental illness.

In 1980 there existed the Mental Health Systems Act put in place by Jimmy Carter’s administration. The Act supported and financed community mental health support systems, which coordinated general health care, mental health care, and social services.

In 1981 with the Reagan administration came the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation, repealing most of the MHSA. One administration enacts sweeping changes, in this case benefitting mental health services, and the next administration repeals or dismantles it despite potential repercussions. Patrisse’s family lived in the aftermath of not only decreased mental health services but also aftermath of systemwide racism. That’s racism legislated and built into the American system for countless numbers of years.

Khan-Cullors inserts quotes throughout her book. Some represent her influences while others represent what influenced the lives her family would navigate to try and survive. Chapter 1 begins with this one from “John Ehrlichman, Richard M. Nixon’s National Domestic Policy Chief, on the administration’s position on Black people”.

“We know we couldn’t make it illegal to be…black, but by getting the public to associate the…blacks with heroin and then criminalinzing [them] heavily, we could disrupt [their] communitites…Did we know we were lying? Of course we did.”

This quote could also apply to the crack epidemic, criminalization of marijuana and how it is carried out. This was the reality for Patrisse and her siblings growing up. A time when young black boys could be stopped and searched for fitting a description or suspected of dealing drugs and gang activity, simply for hanging out or socializing with friends. The first time Patrisse was arrested was at the age of 12, in front of her class and searched. Her closest brother Monte arrested at age 11.

Patrisse recounts incidents like these and others, including a raid on the family home to look for a relative suspected of dealing drugs. The relative did not live with them. The youngest child in the family at the time was 5. Police searched everything in the house. Although this was anything but normal it was not discussed in the family. They went on to survive this day.

While some may be outraged to hear this, I can recall talking to relatives about living in the Jim Crow South. Things were so a part of their daily lives that there was no discussion about events. No spoken outrage, just survival. Knowing it was wrong but legal to be treated like you don’t matter.

Another chapter quote for your consideration,

“One of the worst things about racism is what it does to young people.” –Alvin Ailey

I think the one set of incidents that most affected the author on her journey to Black Lives Matter was that of her brother Monte. In the midst of everything going on in their environment, Monte would develop a mental illness. He would not be diagnosed until time in prison. Through all of his episodes the way the system dealt with it would be through multiple arrests and jail time. The family would grow weary of calling police for assistance, because the abuse and treatment he would receive were not what they wanted for him. They were also at a loss at what to do as no assistance solutions were in place. As I stated Monte was diagnosed with schizophrenia while in jail.

Kinetic energy increases as the mass and speed of an object increase.

Explanation:

Kinetic energy increases as the mass and speed of an object increase. The equation for kinetic energy is KE = 1/2mv^2, where m is the mass of the object and v is its velocity.

If the mass of an object increases, its kinetic energy will increase by the same factor. For example, if an object has twice the mass, it will have twice the kinetic energy.

If the speed of an object increases, its kinetic energy will increase by the square of the speed increase. For example, if an object's speed doubles, its kinetic energy will quadruple.

Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. It is the energy that an object has because it is moving. Kinetic energy can be used to do work, such as when a moving car hits a wall.
