the triangle factory fire

In a few sentences, explain the ways in which the fire could have been avoided.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:  The fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory could certainly have been prevented with the knowledge and procedures we use today. Its death toll could have been reduced if the doors had not been locked and the switchboard on the 9th floor had been in operation. Many of these deaths could have been prevented, but due to lax fire safety laws and few labor regulations, unsafe working conditions prevailed in New York's garment factories in the early 20th century.  If the owners didn't avoid implementing safety measures and they would have installed a sprinkler system and had fire drills performed and had evacuation procedures in place and if they would have kept there aisles clear and not completely blocked with big crates of blouses and goods then more people would have been able to make it out of there.  They also could have checked there pre-filled buckets that were strategically hung throughout the factory daily to make sure that they were filled with water and they could have also made sure that there fire hose wasn't old and rotten and rusted shut and made sure they had a good working fire hose.   The building only had one fire escape, despite needing at least three to accommodate all 500 of the factory employees.  It was too narrow to allow many of the people to pass through at once.  The main point of escape was a single elevator that could only hold 12 people at a time and the operator only made four trips before it broke down.  And also they could have had taller ladders that reached higher than the sixth floor.   There were many ways this fire could have been avoided and it's very tragic that it had to happen at all.

How did colonial views on individualism affect Patriot revolution?

Patriots, also known as Revolutionaries, Continentals, Rebels, or American Whigs, were the colonists of the Thirteen Colonies who rejected British rule during the American Revolution and declared the United States of America an independent nation in July 1776.

Many Patriots were active before 1775 in groups such as the Sons of Liberty, and the most prominent leaders are referred to today by Americans as the Founding Fathers. They represented a cross-section of the population of the Thirteen Colonies and came from many different backgrounds.

According to Robert Calhoon, between 40 and 45 percent of the white population in the Thirteen Colonies supported the Patriots' cause, between 15 and 20 percent supported the Loyalists, and the remainder were neutral or kept a low profile. The great majority of the Loyalists remained in America, while the minority went to Canada, Britain, Florida, or the West Indies.

how long did it take norway to make this switch to hydroelectric power

Answers

Norway's switch to hydroelectric power began in the early 20th century with the construction of its first hydroelectric power plants.

It wasn't until the 1960s and 1970s that the country made a significant shift towards hydroelectric power as its primary source of energy. This shift was driven by a combination of factors, including a growing awareness of the environmental impacts of fossil fuel use, a desire to reduce dependence on imported oil, and the availability of abundant hydroelectric resources in Norway's mountainous terrain.

By the 1980s, hydroelectric power accounted for over 90% of Norway's electricity production. Today, Norway continues to be a world leader in the development and use of hydroelectric power, with more than 95% of its electricity coming from renewable sources, the majority of which is hydroelectric power.

What is  rationing of WWII?

Despite the fact that thousands of things became scarce during the war, only those that were absolutely necessary for the endeavor were rationed. Rationing laws applied to essential items including sugar, tires, fuel, meat, coffee, butter, canned foods, and shoes. Several essential commodities, such as fresh produce and other foods, were exempt from restriction.

Because everyone was only allowed to purchase a set number of items, rationing helped to influence attitudes in Britain by encouraging sharing and collaboration. It was acknowledged that the government was more concerned with the welfare and diet of its citizens.

In times of scarcity, rationing was a way to make sure that food and other necessities were distributed fairly. During the commencement of World War II, it started with fuel and gradually expanded to include other products including butter, sugar, and bacon.
