Conclusion of migrant labour system

Answers

The historical system of migrant labor was established by capitalist, colonial, and apartheid authorities in order to balance the conflicting needs for cheap labor in the mines and cities of "white" South Africa with the goal of relegating black people to rural areas distant from the "white" metropolis.

What effect did the migrant labor system have?

Fathers were absent from their children's homes because of the migrant labor system since they were working in low-paying jobs in the city and only seeing them once a year. Taverns were conveniently located for these migratory workers by the apartheid planners.

What function does migrant labor serve?

While the variables that drive the demand for migrant labor may change, those that drive its supply are often constant: most often, migrant laborers travel to their places of employment due to unfavorable economic and social conditions in their home regions.

First arena found in Babylon, Mesopotamia

Answers

It is to be noted that the first arena to be found in Babylon is  Mesopotamia.

What about Mesopotamia?

Mesopotamia, located between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, was not as lucky as Egypt. There were no fascinating and brilliantly made signs on the walls, few priceless artifacts to be acquired as curiosities, simply a few towering, lonely, and decaying brick structures to which the name and reputation of the biblical Tower of Babel clung.

Mesopotamian cultures are regarded as civilizations because their people possessed writing, formed communities in the form of villages, grew their own food, tamed animals, and had several ranks of labor.

Mesopotamia was not only one of the earliest areas to create agriculture, but it was also at the crossroads of the Egyptian and Indus Valley civilizations. This created a melting pot of languages and cultures that had a long-lasting influence on writing, technology, language, trade, religion, and law.

Divination was used in Mesopotamian civilization not just as a way of orienting oneself in life, but also as a platform for intellectual activities and goals.

Answer:

Explanation:

The emphasis on culture wars during the 1988 election helped cause polarization by framing political debates around divisive social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and religion. This led to a more "us vs. them" mentality, where people became more entrenched in their political beliefs and less willing to compromise or work across party lines. As a result, political polarization increased, making it harder for lawmakers to pass legislation and work together to solve the country's problems.

What was transcendentalism period?

A philosophical movement known as transcendentalism emerged in New England in the late 1820s and early 1830s. Although society and its institutions have tainted the innocence of the individual, a basic notion is that people are at their best when they are truly "self-reliant" and autonomous. Transcendentalists promoted the idea of having a personal understanding of God and held that having spiritual insight might occur without the aid of a middleman. They supported idealism, emphasizing the natural world and rejecting materialism.

Typee, Herman Melville's debut book, received positive reviews upon publication. The work was praised for bridging New England culture with cultures overseas. When one of his crewmates verified Melville's claim that the stories were factual, the Melville Herman biography gained even more steam.

Researchers Arthur E. Spiess and Bruce D. Spiess conclude that the epidemic that killed as many as 90 percent of the indigenous population of coastal New England just before Puritans arrived was likely option c. plague.

This conclusion is based on their analysis of historical records, accounts from early settlers, and the symptoms described during that time. The plague, also known as the bubonic plague or Black Death, is a highly contagious and devastating disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. It is primarily transmitted through fleas that infest rats and can be transmitted to humans through flea bites.

The symptoms of the plague include high fever, painful swollen lymph nodes (buboes), and severe illness, often resulting in death. The researchers' conclusion of the plague as the probable cause of the epidemic is supported by historical accounts of a widespread and rapidly spreading illness with severe symptoms, similar to those associated with the plague.

Additionally, the high mortality rate of up to 90 percent aligns with the devastating impact that the plague had on populations throughout history. While viral hepatitis, smallpox, and cholera have also caused significant epidemics in different time periods, the specific characteristics and symptoms described in the historical records of coastal New England make the plague the most likely culprit in this case.

THE MATCH

There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.

Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by nature—by a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.

In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.
