SUBMIT
The evidence from the text that leads me to believe that the main character of "Top of the Food Chain" is an unreliable narrator is option C. He makes excuses and says he couldn't predict the problems that would arise.
Throughout the story, the main character recounts the events that unfold when a pesticide called DDT is introduced to a small town. Initially, he presents himself as a knowledgeable and authoritative voice, providing facts about the number of cats imported and demonstrating expertise in the subject matter (option D). However, as the narrative progresses, it becomes clear that he is unreliable.
The main character constantly makes excuses for the unexpected and disastrous consequences of the pesticide. He claims he couldn't predict the problems that would arise (option C). This suggests a lack of foresight and accountability on his part. Rather than acknowledging his own role in the situation or taking responsibility for the damage caused, he shifts the blame to external factors.
Furthermore, the main character's sympathetic portrayal of the people's suffering (option A) may be seen as an attempt to deflect attention from his own shortcomings. By evoking pity in the audience, he manipulates their emotions to distract them from his own culpability.
Overall, the main character's excuses and deflection of responsibility indicate that he is an unreliable narrator, undermining the trustworthiness of his account and raising questions about his credibility.

A writer may include a foil character to provide a comparison with the main character, add complexity to the story, and emphasize a particular quality of the protagonist.
A writer may include a foil character to provide a comparison with the main character. A foil character is a character who contrasts with another character, usually the protagonist, to highlight particular qualities of the other character. For instance, in William Shakespeare’s play, “Romeo and Juliet,” the protagonist Romeo is an idealist who believes in love and life, whereas the foil character Tybalt is a hotheaded and violent character who is ready to fight with Romeo or anyone who crosses his path.
The inclusion of a foil character in the story can emphasize a specific quality of the protagonist. It is also an effective way to explore the character's inner thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By comparing the two characters, readers can better understand the protagonist’s motives, strengths, weaknesses, and flaws.
For example, in the Harry Potter series, Hermione Granger serves as a foil character to Harry Potter. Hermione is highly intelligent and organized, and she possesses a deep understanding of magic. In contrast, Harry is impulsive and unorganized. Hermione’s character helps to emphasize Harry’s weaknesses and strengths.
Moreover, a foil character can add complexity and depth to the story. By contrasting the protagonist and the foil, the writer can create a multi-dimensional character with a rich backstory.

Glass window is a blank object when the light hits the window a small amount is reflected which allows you to see the glass while most of the light waves are blank up
When light hits a glass window, the behavior of the light waves can be explained by the principles of reflection and transmission. Glass, being a transparent material, allows most of the incident light to pass through it.
However, a small amount of light is reflected back, which is why we can see the glass. When light waves encounter a boundary between two different media, such as air and glass, some of the light is reflected and some is transmitted or refracted. This phenomenon occurs due to the differences in the optical properties of the materials involved.
In the case of a glass window, the smooth surface of the glass causes a portion of the incident light to bounce back or reflect. This reflection is responsible for the small amount of light that is reflected back toward our eyes, allowing us to perceive the presence of the glass. The reflected light retains the properties of the incident light, including its color and intensity.
On the other hand, the majority of the light waves penetrate the glass surface and are transmitted through it. The glass material is relatively transparent, meaning that it allows light to pass through with minimal absorption or scattering. This transmitted light continues to travel through the glass until it encounters another medium or exits the other side of the glass.

Strange Weather
Tyrik gasped at the weather outside. He had heard of this weather spectacle before, but he had never experienced it. White flakes accumulated on the front yard, the street, and the sidewalk. It was snow.
Tyrik grew up near Miami, where it never snowed. But, during a winter break from school, his parents took him up to visit his aunt and uncle in Michigan. This was his first time out of Florida. For the first few days, it was bitterly cold. Fortunately, Tyrik brought a warm coat, snow gloves, and a knit cap with him. Today, though, it snowed and he wished he had a pair of snow pants.
After a scrumptious breakfast of grapefruit, kiwi, and seasoned scrambled eggs, his aunt and uncle asked if he wanted to go sledding. He jumped up and down with excitement. His mother, however, pointed out that he did not have snow pants. She didn’t want him to ruin his normal pants in the snow. Tyrik’s aunt offered to go next door to borrow a pair from the neighbors. They had a son close to Tyrik’s age. While his aunt walked next door, Tyrik brushed his teeth and put on a few layers of clothes. With his teeth cleaned and his body protected by two pairs of pants, two shirts, two pairs of socks, he went downstairs. Eventually, his aunt walked in carrying a pair of snow pants and snow boots. She was followed by a boy around the same height as Tyrik.
“Hi, I’m Connor,” the boy replied. “Do you want to go sledding with me?” Tyrik pulled on the snow pants and laced up the snow boots. He zipped up his coat and followed the boy outside. Connor explained that there was a great hill for sledding a few blocks away. He had an extra sled that Tyrik could use. As they walked, Tyrik told his new friend about Florida.
“It sounds awesome,” Connor replied. “I’d love to visit sometime. I want to see the ocean.”
“Yeah. You could stay at my house,” Tyrik suggested.
The boys spent the whole morning sledding. They took a break to have lunch at Connor’s house. Then, in the afternoon, they built a snow fort and a snowman. Although Tyrik loved Florida, he was grateful for an opportunity to see snow and play in it. The Importance of Teaching Financial Literacy in Schools
Money is an essential part of our daily lives, and the ability to manage it effectively is crucial to our success and well-being. Unfortunately, many people lack the necessary financial literacy skills to make informed decisions about their money, leading to debt, poverty, and financial insecurity. This is why it is essential to teach financial literacy in schools.
Financial literacy is the ability to understand and manage one's finances effectively. It includes skills such as budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding credit and debt. These skills are essential for everyone, regardless of their background, to make sound financial decisions throughout their lives.
One of the primary reasons why financial literacy should be taught in schools is that it provides students with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their money. Many students graduate from high school without any understanding of personal finance, leaving them vulnerable to financial pitfalls such as credit card debt and predatory lending. By teaching financial literacy in schools, students can learn about topics such as credit scores, budgeting, and investing, which can help them make smart decisions about their finances.
Another reason why financial literacy is essential is that it can help break the cycle of poverty. Many families living in poverty lack access to financial resources and are more likely to rely on predatory lending, which can trap them in a cycle of debt. By teaching financial literacy in schools, we can equip students from all backgrounds with the skills they need to make sound financial decisions, breaking the cycle of poverty and helping them build a brighter future.
Finally, financial literacy is essential because it can help promote economic growth and stability. Individuals who are financially literate are more likely to save, invest, and start businesses, all of which can contribute to economic growth. Additionally, financial literacy can help promote financial stability by reducing the risk of financial crises and ensuring that individuals are prepared for unexpected expenses.
In conclusion, teaching financial literacy in schools is essential for promoting financial well-being, breaking the cycle of poverty, and promoting economic growth and stability. By equipping students with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their money, we can help build a brighter future for everyone. It is time for policymakers and educators to prioritize financial literacy education and ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn these critical skills.
