Political___ has infiltrated many American schools

Answers

Answer 1

Political bias has infiltrated many American schools.

This issue refers to the presence of one-sided political perspectives that are promoted or favored within educational settings, potentially influencing the information and viewpoints shared with students.

The infiltration of political bias in schools has become a topic of concern, as it raises questions about the objectivity and neutrality of the education system.

When political bias infiltrates schools, it can manifest in various ways. Teachers and administrators may exhibit their own political leanings in the classroom, shaping discussions and presenting information in a manner that favors their own beliefs. Curriculum materials, textbooks, and instructional resources may also reflect a particular ideological bias, selectively presenting or omitting information based on political perspectives.

The infiltration of political bias in schools raises concerns about the impact on students' critical thinking skills, intellectual growth, and ability to develop well-rounded perspectives. It can hinder the development of independent thought and the exploration of diverse viewpoints, potentially limiting students' exposure to a wide range of political ideologies.

Efforts to address this issue often focus on promoting balanced and unbiased education. This includes fostering an inclusive learning environment that encourages open dialogue, presenting diverse perspectives on political issues, and ensuring that curriculum materials are free from overt bias. By promoting intellectual diversity and cultivating critical thinking skills, schools can strive to mitigate the infiltration of political bias and provide students with a well-rounded education.

In summary, the infiltration of political bias in American schools raises concerns about the objectivity and neutrality of education. Efforts to promote balanced and unbiased education are crucial to ensure that students have the opportunity to develop independent thought, engage in open dialogue, and explore diverse perspectives on political issues.

Which piece of textual evidence best supports Arnold's claim?

Answers

Answer:

B.  "The things that haven’t been done before

Are the tasks worthwhile today;

Are you one of the flock that follows, or

Are you one that shall lead the way?"

Explanation:

Edgar Guest was a British American poet whose poem "The Things That Haven't Been Done Before" where the speaker delves into the things not done before and how these first-time experiences are what teaches us valuable lessons. There are those who seek me for a lifetime but we never meet, and i kiss all those who but trample me beneath ungrateful feet.

At times i seem to favor the clever and the fair, but i bless all those who are brave enough to dare.

For each of my strikes lands a powerful blow, when i kill, i do it slow....

What am i?

Answers

The answer to the riddle is "Time." Time is sought after by individuals throughout their lifetime, but it remains elusive.

It metaphorically kisses those who neglect or take it for granted. Time appears to favor those who are intelligent and just, yet it blesses anyone who dares to take risks. Generally, time's influence is gentle and pleasant, but when ignored or mistreated, it becomes a formidable force. Each passing moment of time brings significant impact, and its effects can be slow but profound, especially when it comes to mortality.

The riddle refers to the concept of time. People often yearn for more time, but it remains intangible and elusive. The phrase "seek me for a lifetime but we never meet" signifies how individuals desire more time in their lives but cannot physically possess or control it. Time is personified as something that kisses those who trample it beneath ungrateful feet, indicating that people often overlook or waste their time without realizing its value.

The mention of favoring the clever and the fair suggests that time seems to be more kind to those who use it wisely and live justly. However, the riddle emphasizes that time blesses all those who are brave enough to dare, regardless of their intelligence or fairness. It highlights the importance of taking risks and seizing opportunities that time presents.

The riddle also mentions time's varying nature. Generally, time's "ministrations" or its influence is described as soft-handed and sweet, suggesting that it brings pleasant experiences and memories. However, when time is scorned or disregarded, it becomes a difficult beast to defeat. This implies that wasting time or not valuing its passage can lead to regret and missed opportunities.

The last part of the riddle describes the powerful impact of time. Each strike of time represents a significant moment or event in one's life, and it can have long-lasting consequences. The phrase "when I kill, I do it slow" refers to time's inevitable effect on mortality. Time gradually leads to the end of life, and its passage cannot be reversed. It emphasizes the need to value and make the most of the time we have.

The use of descriptive phrases and clauses, such as "meandering between fields of alfalfa and corn, crabgrass and soy" and "Looming above these hills, snowcapped mountains reflected the last reds of evening," creates a vivid and detailed depiction of the scene.

Which best explains why the narrator mentions the gentleman’s names in the opening sentence?

A: to establish credibility, suggesting many want to hear his tale

B: to foreshadow the story’s ending, as personalities are revealed

C: to give background information on his father’s occupation

D: to help the reader visualize the inhabitants of the inn

Answer:

The narrator mentions the gentleman's names in the opening sentence A: to establish credibility, suggesting many want to hear his tale

Explanation:

The best answer is option A because he mentioned specific names, SQUIRE TRELAWNEY and Dr. Livesey who are people that can be verified which shows that he started the opening sentence with their name to establish credibility while also showing that many others want to hear his tale.

The other options are incorrect becaause there is no mention of the personalities of the people involved or backgrund information about his father's occupation, neither is it escriptive of the inn in any distinct way.

The storyteller makes reference to the man of his word's names in the initial sentence:

Option A: to set up validity, recommending many need to hear his tale

The most appropriate answer is choice An in light of the fact that he referenced explicit names, Squire Trelawneyand Dr. Livesey who are individuals that can be confirmed which shows that he began the initial sentence with their name to build up believability while likewise showing that numerous others need to hear his tale.

The different choices are inaccurate because there is no notice of the characters of individuals included or backgrund data about his dad's occupation, nor is it escriptive of the hotel in any particular manner.

By the time Owen worked there as a teacher, 70% of the students were day students, the city had grown up around the school, and the economy and a series of bad investment decisions had led to a serious fiscal crisis. To deal with these issues, The Prep brought in a new Headmaster, hired a new chief financial officer (CFO), and convened a "benefits review committee" that included members of the Board of Trustees, community members, school administrators, and one faculty representativeOwen. The committee met a number of times, discussing topics including school history and culture, relationships to donors, comparisons of The Prep with other high-quality preparatory schools, hiring practices, and benefits issues such as how much should be contributed to 401K packages. The discussions were wide-ranging, but for the sake of this case, well settle in on one particular issue raised during a meeting several weeks into the ongoing work of the benefits review committee. At this meeting, the topic under discussion was tuition waivers for the children of faculty and staff. Owen suspected coming into the meeting that this issue would be contentious, and he was right. As the discussion ensued, two camps emerged. On one side were faculty members who wanted to maintain the tuition waiver. These individuals argued that the tuition waiver was part of the schools history and culture and that many faculty and staff chose to work at The Prep in part because they were "investing in their childrens future." During a meeting break, Owen asked the CFO, "Was not every person here promised the dependent tuition waiver when they were hired? I know I was." The head of the high school produced letters from teachers pleading that the benefit not be cut and examples of job offers teachers had turned down because they were counting on the tuition waiver at The Prep.On the other side of this argument were members of the Board of Trustees and the CFO. One trustee pointed out that the tuition waiver was not a "formal policy" and that sometimes difficult decisions needed to be made in the name of fiscal responsibility. Another argued that "the policy is not equitable to the faculty members who do not have dependents," and the CFO brushed off concerns about fa Solve the system graphically and check the solution.
