The Common Era began at which event?
OA. The start of the Han dynasty
B. The fall of the Roman Empire
OC. The invention of the automobile
D. The birth of Jesus of Nazareth
SUBMIT

Answers

The Common Era began at the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. The correct option is D. Some claim that BC/AD is merely a reference to the event, whereas BCE/CE elevates the significance of the birth of Christ to the beginning of a brand-new "common era."

Why is it called the Common Era?

The phrase "Common Era" has its roots in the early 1600s, despite appearing to be a modern invention. The term "Vulgar Era" first appeared in 1635 and was derived from the Latin Vulgaris aerate, which originally meant "of the common people."

The Common Era, also known as the Christian Era, served as the foundation for the calendar we use today. The Dionysian system of AD and BC is replaced by this one. Midway through the 19th century, Jewish academics started to use the term "Common Era" more frequently.

Thus, the ideal selection is option D.

The auto workers who participated in the 1936-37 strike at general motors were concerned about their safety but continued to protest the company's refusal to leave the factory.

The 1936–1937 Flint sit-down strike, also known as the General Motors sit-down strike, the great GM sit-down strike, and so on, was a sitdown strike at the General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, United States. It changed the United Automobile Workers (UAW) from a collection of isolated local unions on the fringes of the industry into a major labor union, and led to the unionization of the domestic automobile industry.

The Flint sit-down strikers set up their own civil system within the strike. A mayor and other civic officials were elected by the workers to maintain order within the plant. Departments included Organized Recreation, Information, Postal Service, and Sanitation.

All rules were enforced by what was called a "Kangaroo Court" by the workers. Any person who broke the rules was given a trial, and punishments ranged from washing dishes to expulsion from the plant.

Answers

Answer:

The War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States and Great Britain that took place between 1812 and 1815. There were a number of causes of the war, including disputes over trade and the impressment of American sailors by the British navy. One cause of the war that was not a factor was the colonization of the Americas by the British.

While the British did have a significant presence in North America during the time of the War of 1812, and their colonization of the continent had been a source of tension between the two countries for many years, it was not a direct cause of the war. Instead, the war was primarily driven by trade and naval issues, such as the British blockade of French ports and the impressment of American sailors by the British navy.

July 25,  - Peace for neither the dead nor the living

Today we received news that a Serb convoy was stoned near Milosevo close to Pristina and that several vehicles were damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured. Only a month ago in the same village, the priest from Babin Most accompanied a group of visitors on All Souls' Day and they found almost all the graves had been vandalized. These incidents are not considered significant by the international forces in Kosovo and Metohija and are usually not reported in official press reports. It seems that it is necessary for someone to be murdered for the news to make it to the front page. The desecration of graves, the stoning of nuns, and fragile, elderly women are regular occurances tolerated daily in order to put pressure on the remaining Serbs to depart from Kosovo and Metohija.

The desecration of graves is a frequent occurence in our region of Metohija. Not far from Pec, in the villages of Brestovik and Siga, almost all the Serb graves were found dug up and the bones of the deceased were literally scattered around the cemetery. Father Radivoje Panic and Dr. Gordana Subaric filmed a shocking documentary film regarding this incident called "The Wind from the Grave". Despite all appeals to the international authorities, this horrible act of barbarism is being repeated at other cemeteries. I ask myself what the living Serbs have to hope for when even the dead have no peace.

July 26,  - The miracle of Holy Archangels

We finally greeted the 650th anniversary of the founding of the Holy Archangels Monastery near Prizren. I remained in Decani this time, impatiently awaiting the arrival of the brethren and the bishop, who were scheduled to come to the monastery with their escorts after the festivities. The bishop arrived late because the UNMIK police driving him in an armored vehicle took a wrong turn at Djakovica and apparently went as far as the Albanian border. I would not be surprised to learn that they entered Albania proper undetected since there is no longer any border between the province of Kosovo and Albania. Abbot Teodosije arrived with the Decani brethren only four hours later because Italian military transporters took them on an alternate route by way of Brezovica and Pristina due to the anti-Serb demonstrations in Prizren. We gathered together that evening and exchanged impressions from the celebration which, despite the rain, took place with great dignity and spiritual joy.

Especially noteworthy were comments regarding the explosion heard in the Holy Archangels Monastery immediately after liturgy as many people still hovered in the church entrance. Later we learned that the Albanians had planted strong explosives some one hundred meters above the monastery in order to invoke the collapse of a part of the hill with a huge cliff directly on the monastery yard, thus burying the attendants. It is not difficult to imagine the extent of the tragedy had more than a mere one hundred grams of the total of 9 kilos of highly volatile explosives planted on the hillside actually detonated. We praised God who, in answer to the prayers of the Holy Archangels, prevented yet another tragedy and spared many human lives.

August 4, 2002 - Another "working" Sunday

Yet another typical Sunday in Decani. Father Ezechiel and Father Serapion are busy all day with numerous visitors who come to visit the church and our iconography studio. The majority of them are foreign officers and their friends who come to visit them. I sit on the terrace and talk with a group of foreigners. They are amazed and simply cannot believe what I am saying, because from the international perspective the situation in Kosovo is "showing signs of significant improvement". Today, they say, an occasional Serb can safely venture down the main Pristina street of Mother Theresa. Of course, the foreigners do see the crowded Pristina streets and cafes and frequently, as a result of all the noise and clamor, they miss out on the story of the remaining 200 Pristina Serbs, living in complete isolation as if they were in catacombs.

A historian writes an essay on the effects of the Great
Depression. He claims that the Depression mostly harmed
rural Americans and that people living in the cities
generally had no idea it was even happening.
A reader trying to determine whether the historian's interpretation is valid
would most likely:
A. write an argumentative essay suggesting that the historian does
not care about the poor.
OB. search for Depression-era primary sources from cities to see if
they mention urban poverty.
OC. conduct research on the Great Depression to learn about the
factors that caused it.
D. determine whether the historian has written any other essays on
the Great Depression.

Answers

Answer:

B. search for Depression-era primary sources from cities to see if they mention urban poverty would be the most appropriate way to determine whether the historian's interpretation is valid. By examining primary sources from the time period, such as newspaper articles or personal accounts, one can gain a more comprehensive understanding of the effects of the Great Depression on different groups of people, including those living in cities. This would provide evidence to support or refute the historian's claim that people in cities generally had no idea about the Depression. Option A is not relevant to evaluating the historian's interpretation, while options C and D may not provide direct insight into the validity of the historian's claim.

What was the principle concern of Muslims immediately upon to death of Mohammad, and how did this concern lead to strife in Islam?

Answers

The primary concern of Muslims immediately upon the death of Prophet Muhammad was the issue of succession, that is, who would succeed the Prophet as the leader of the Muslim community (Ummah) and the head of the Islamic state.

What was principle concern of Muslims after death of Mohammad?

This issue was of great importance because the Prophet played a central role in the establishment and consolidation of the Muslim community and his leadership was seen as essential to its success and survival.

The controversy over succession led to a split in the Muslim community between those who believed that the Prophet's cousin and son-in-law, Ali ibn Abi Talib, should succeed him, and those who believed that Abu Bakr, one of the Prophet's closest companions, should be the leader.

The former group, who became known as the Shi'a (or Shia), believed that the leadership of the Ummah should remain within the Prophet's family, while the latter group, who became known as the Sunni, believed that leadership should be based on merit and the consensus of the community.

Answers

The Fourteen Points were designed to address the issue of territorial disputes and the desire for national self-determination among ethnic groups, by promoting the principles of national self-determination and international cooperation to prevent future conflicts.

What was one of the causes of World War I that the Fourteen Points were designed to address?

One of the causes of World War I that the Fourteen Points were designed to address was the issue of territorial disputes and the desire for national self-determination among various ethnic groups. Prior to World War I, there were numerous territorial disputes and conflicts between different ethnic groups, particularly in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. These disputes often led to tensions and conflicts that contributed to the outbreak of the war.

The Fourteen Points attempted to address this issue by promoting the principle of national self-determination, which called for the recognition of the right of all peoples to govern themselves and choose their own form of government. This principle was meant to address the various territorial disputes by allowing each ethnic group to have its own independent state. The idea was that by giving each ethnic group its own independent state, it would help to reduce tensions and prevent future conflicts.

The Fourteen Points also called for the creation of a League of Nations, which was intended to provide a forum for nations to work out their differences and prevent future conflicts. The League of Nations was meant to be an international organization that would promote diplomacy and cooperation among nations, and provide a mechanism for resolving disputes without resorting to war.

Overall, the Fourteen Points attempted to address the causes of World War I by promoting the principles of national self-determination and international cooperation. While the Fourteen Points did not fully succeed in preventing future conflicts, they did represent an important step towards the promotion of peace and the prevention of future wars.

Answer:

It is false that three of the five tribes favored the legislation because they  welcomed the opportunity for westward expansion.

Explanation:

The Indian Removal Act was a law passed by Congress in 1830 with the aim of legalizing the relocation of the American Indian tribes that were located east of the Mississippi, taking them to what today is Oklahoma. This rule was clearly rejected by the native tribes, who considered their territories as their ancestral property, and did not see possible a separation of their peoples from their territories, given their cultural and religious conception. Therefore, it is false that there were tribes that supported this norm.

What is total war?

Total war is a military strategy that involves the complete mobilization of a nation's resources and population towards the war effort. It is characterized by the use of all available means to achieve victory, including civilian targeting, propaganda, and the destruction of infrastructure. The concept emerged in the 19th century, but reached its peak during the two World Wars of the 20th century. Total war blurs the line between military and civilian targets and often results in massive casualties and devastation.
