List and describe three effects that the American Revolution had upon economic relationships in the United States.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer: The Founding of the Colonies: One thing to keep in mind is that many of the American colonies were first founded by people trying to escape religious persecution in England. As the British government became more involved in the affairs of colonies, people began to worry that they would once again lose their freedoms.

French and Indian War: The French and Indian War took place between the American colonies and New France. Both sides allied with various Native American tribes. This war lasted from 1754 to 1763. British troops not only helped the colonists to fight the war, but were stationed in the colonies for protection after the war. These troops weren't free and Britain needed money to pay for the troops. The British Parliament decided to tax the American colonies to help pay for the troops.

Taxes, Laws, and More Taxes: Prior to 1764, the British government had pretty much left the colonists alone to govern themselves. In 1764, they began to impose new laws and taxes. They implemented a number of laws including the Sugar Act, Currency Act, Quartering Act, and the Stamp Act. The colonists were not happy with the new taxes. They said they should not have to pay British taxes because they had no representatives in the British Parliament. Their motto became "No Taxation Without Representation."

Growing Unity Among the Colonies: The increased laws punishing the colonies did little to control the colonies as the British had hoped, but actually had the opposite effect. The laws caused the colonies to become more united against the British. Many colonies sent supplies to help Boston during the blockade. Also, more and more colonists throughout the Americas joined up with the Sons of Liberty.

what have the use done to repeat the past

this is not a general quation

Answers

The sentiment that history repeats aspires to common sense and is hard to disagree with. In the history of the United States and Europe, wars have ended with confiscatory terms of government surrender inevitably breeding more wars. Revolutions, like those in France and Russia, that gave an individual absolute power—Napoleon and Stalin, respectively—inevitably end up as failed empires brutal dictatorships. Even individuals are subject to this advice. Couples who do not learn from their fights break up. People who don’t learn from their mistakes don’t mature.

In the 21st century, specific events in Syria have proven a repeated lessons about civil wars, like the Vietnam war, that when great powers intervene to fight proxy battles, conflict becomes protracted. Incidentally, when Abraham Lincoln governed during the American Civil War, he recognized it was essential to keep out foreign powers like Britain and France.

So it is the ruling of The Proverbial Skeptic that history repeats and the saying is true, but…)

But, it doesn’t really have any power. Why? History shows that both those who do not learn history and those who do learn history are doomed to repeat it. If it’s also true that those who do learn history are doomed to repeat it, then the saying doesn’t really add anything at all.

So is that the case?

After repeated 19th century wars between Germany and France, France still demanded that confiscatory terms of surrender be imposed on Germany after the 20th century’s First World War. Then the Second World War happened .

After failing to invest in education and infrastructure in Afghanistan after arming the Mojahadin against the invading Soviet Union in the 80’s, America neglected to make the same investments after later Middle Eastern military campaigns. Then rose The Taliban and Al Qaeda.

After Stalin’s brutal regime of secret police and leader worship, Cuban revolutionaries allowed their charismatic revolutionary leader to seize absolute power. A Castro still holds a seat of dictatorial power in Cuba.

It may be common sense that all of the good things and all of the bad things about people, and the way that we organize ourselves, are simply going to breed patterns as we continue to make history as a species. It may be that we are simply given to a certain irrationality which leads us down paths, some disastrous, again and again.

Santayana also said of human nature, “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” Santayana, who famously disagreed with his contemporaries like William James, died in Rome in 1952. After leaving the United States, he became generally critical of American society, though such criticism was separate from his system of philosophy.

Consider what humorist and writer Mark Twain famously said on the matter: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”

How might the issue of u.s- imposed tariffs impact u.s relations with britain

Answers

Answer: tariffs restrict imported goods by raising the prices of the good making it so the good are not wanted by consumers.

Explanation: add a higher tariff on imported goods loses customers. Therefore we would not need the imported goods from Britain if no one is buying it.

Theoretically, tariffs can cause inflation. Tariffs increase the price of goods and services in domestic markets by applying a tax on imported goods that is paid by the domestic importer. To cover the increased costs, the domestic importer then charges higher prices for the goods and services.

The powers of governing…in the hands of the king…himself such an…enemy
to liberty…is he…a proper person to say to these colonies, "YOU SHALL MAKE
NO LAWS BUT WHAT I PLEASE."

Read the passage. What idea is the author trying to prove to the colonists?
A Colonists may not agree with him, but the king has the right to rule.
B Colonists should request that the king allow them representation.
C The king is violating the natural rights of the colonists.
D The king knows best how to govern the colonie

Answers

Answer: C. The king is violating the natural rights of the colonists.

Explanation:

Paine argues that placing the powers of governing solely in the hands of the king, who is an enemy of liberty, is unjust. By highlighting the king's authority to dictate laws without the consent or input of the colonists, Paine suggests that the king is violating the natural rights of the colonists to participate in their own governance. This supports the broader theme in Paine's pamphlet, Common Sense, which advocates for the idea of independence from British rule and the establishment of self-governance in the American colonies.

Describe Williamsburg. What roles did African Americans play? What was daily life like?

Answers

Few doubts about the legal status of Virginia's blacks remained after the General Assembly — meeting in the new capital of Williamsburg in October 1705 — doubled down on the increasingly restrictive laws of the late 1600s by defining slaves as real estate.

But that didn't stop the town's unusually literate African-American population from finding ways to test their shackles.

Landmark slave laws. Spurred by a late-1600s boom in the number of blacks and mixed-race people — who made up more than a quarter of Virginia's population in 1700 — the elite landowners of the colony passed several milestone acts in October 1705 defining slavery and race in ways that shaped life indelibly until the Civil War.

"Just 30 years earlier, you could look at someone and tell if they were black or white. But by 1705, it was starting to become a real problem," former Colonial Williamsburg historian Taylor Stoermer says, describing the widespread social, legal and economic impact of a population change driven by Virginia's rapid shift toward black labor.

"So these laws were designed to address that problem by defining who was black and who was not, who was free and who was not, who was property and who was not — and who did and did not have the right to make decisions about their own lives. And if you were black, those new definitions didn't come down on your side."

"An act declaring the Negro, Mulatto, and Indian slaves within this dominion, to be real estate" had the most far-reaching impact, transforming people who had been regarded as servants for life into property, Stoermer says.

"An act regarding Servants and Slaves" spelled out many of the consequences of this distinction, decreeing that "All servants imported and brought into the Country … who were not Christians in their native Country … shall be accounted and be slaves."

In Article XXIV, it stripped slaves of the right to resist or defend themselves when being physically "corrected," then absolved the master or his agent of guilt if such a slave "shall happen to be killed in such correction … as if such incident had never happened."

"An act declaring who shall not bear office in this country" had tremendous impact, too, outlining in its last paragraphs a pioneering racial definition in which "the child, grandchild or great-grandchild of a Negro shall be deemed, accounted, held and be taken to be a mulatto."

"These laws were all passed during the same session," Stoermer says. "This is the generation that chooses slavery over servants — and that decision transformed life in Virginia."

Planting the seeds of freedom. Founded in 1760 by the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg postmaster William Hunter and an Anglo-American missionary group whose trustees included Hunter's long-time friend and fellow postmaster Benjamin Franklin, the Bray School for African-Americans was the first institution of its kind affiliated with an American college.

Originally located off Prince George Street a stone's throw from the college's Wren Yard, it touched and often transformed the lives of several hundred young black students over its 14 years, not only making them more useful and valuable as servants who could read and write but also imbuing some with an ambition and sense of self-worth that the school's founders and supporters hadn't intended.

Tutored by schoolmistress Ann Wager with the help of spelling books and slate pencils purchased by their masters, its best students are likely to have been more literate than many of the period's whites — and some are believed to have played roles in the founding of America's first African-American church about 16 years after the Bray School opened.

They also contributed to the town's notably large and well-educated slave population, whose character can be judged in part by the conspicuous number of newspaper ads describing runaways who could not only read and write — and forge passes when they had to — but also believed they had as much right to be free as any white person.

"In an urban environment like Williamsburg, it could be very beneficial to have literate slaves," College of William and Mary historian Julie Richter says, describing the motives of such residents as King's Arms Tavern owner Jane Vobe, who sent some of her young slaves to the school.

"But in addition to making them more valuable, it shaped their lives in ways that were very different and unusual — especially compared to the slaves in the surrounding countryside."

First black church. Sparked by a free black itinerant preacher known as Moses, a small flock of African-Americans living in and around Williamsburg began worshipping together in the mid-1770s, defiantly skirting the prohibitions against black assemblies by gathering clandestinely in the woods near outlying Green Spring Plantation.

Williamsburg is in New York City in Brooklyn.

and possibly The number of German casualties and their previous losses likely made it difficult for Germany to recover. but im not 100% sure I hope this helps

I think France had the strongest military during WWII, because the German Invasion of France during 1940 was a easy win for Hitler and Germany. But again, it could be strategy, not man-power. I also don’t think Canada played a huge roll in the War. I think they joined because the UK was in the war and so did other Commonwealth Countries, like Australia. The main key players in WWII were probably the Soviet Union and the United States. France still existed under Nazi rule (though it was called Vichy France) and was probably a key player too. The Allied Invasion of Normandy was a big turning point in the War, and Germany did see a lot of casualties, so I think the answer is the first two scenarios; the Normandy invasion was a significant turning point during the war and Germany experienced the most casualties during the Normandy invasion.
