Monadnock in Early Spring
Amy Lowell

Cloud-topped and splendid, dominating all
The little lesser hills which compass thee,
Thou standest, bright with April’s buoyancy,
Yet holding Winter in some shaded wall
Of stern, steep rock; and startled by the call (5)
Of Spring, thy trees flush with expectancy
And cast a cloud of crimson, silently,
Above thy snowy crevices where fall
Pale shrivelled oak leaves, while the snow beneath
Melts at their phantom touch. Another year (10)
Is quick with import. Such each year has been.
Unmoved thou watchest all, and all bequeath
Some jewel to thy diadem of power,
Thou pledge of greater majesty unseen.

What is the speaker thinking about in this poem?

Group of answer choices

Why Monadnock was formed in the spring.

How Monadnock changes with the seasons.

Why Monadnock does not change with the seasons.

How Monadnock was formed in the spring.

Answers

Answer:

The speaker in this poem is thinking about how Monadnock, a dominant and splendid hill, appears in early spring. The speaker describes how the hill still holds onto winter in some areas, but the trees are flushed with expectancy and cast a cloud of crimson in anticipation of spring. The poem also suggests that each year brings something new and important to Monadnock and that the hill is a symbol of greater, unseen majesty. Therefore, the answer is: How Monadnock changes with the seasons.

several of the interns ____ from my alma mater.

Answers

However, based on the limited information provided, it seems like you are referring to a group of interns who all attended the same university as you did. If that is the case, it may be worth considering the potential benefits and drawbacks of having so many individuals from the same alma mater working together.

On the one hand, there may be a sense of camaraderie and shared experience that could foster collaboration and teamwork. On the other hand, there is also the risk of groupthink and a lack of diversity of thought. It may be helpful to think about ways to balance the benefits and risks, such as actively seeking out differing viewpoints and perspectives, or encouraging open communication and debate among the interns.

"Several of the interns come from my alma mater," we can use the given terms in the following way:
1. Begin by repeating the question: Several of the interns come from my alma mater.
2. Explain the meaning of "interns": Interns are individuals who work temporarily, usually to gain experience in a particular field or industry.
3. Explain the meaning of "alma mater": An alma mater is the school, college, or university that someone has graduated from.
4. Describe the connection between the two terms: In this case, the connection is that the interns attended and graduated from the same institution as the person asking the question.

Read the excerpt from Animal Farm. Apart from the disputes over the windmill, there was the question of the defense of the farm. It was fully realized that though the human beings had been defeated in the Battle of the Cowshed they might make another and more determined attempt to recapture the farm and reinstate Mr. Jones. They had all the more reason for doing so because the news of their defeat had spread across the countryside and made the animals on the neighbouring farms more restive than ever. As usual, Snowball and Napoleon were in disagreement. According to Napoleon, what the animals must do was to procure firearms and train themselves in the use of them. According to Snowball, they must send out more and more pigeons and stir up rebellion among the animals on the other farms. The one argued that if they could not defend themselves they were bound to be conquered, the other argued that if rebellions happened everywhere they would have no need to defend themselves. What is the main conflict in this excerpt

Answers

Answer:

The main conflict presented in this excerpt is that while Napoleon wants animals to protect themselves from possible human retaliation, Snowball wants more animals, on other farms, to revolt against humans.

Explanation:

This is an excerpt from "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell, where animals on a farm decide to rebel against humans and take control of the farm. However, as we can see in this excerpt, humans are planning to retaliate and attack animals.

Snowball and Napoleon are the pigs that are leading the animals and they have different ideas about how they should act if humans attack. This difference of ideas is the main conflict in the text, where Snowball wants to encourage other animals, on other farms, to attack humans, while Napoleon wants the animals to protect themselves.

Did you know that adding too much greenhouse gases makes the earth’s atmosphere too warm that it puts animals and humans in danger. There is a blue lining around the earth called earth’s atmosphere, and that blue protects us from the sun’s harmful rays, keeps us from freezing during the cold seasons, and protects us from space (as you may know space does not have oxygen to where humans can breath normally). Wait what was that….. What can you do to stop adding greenhouse gases to the earth? Well…… that’s exactly what I am going to educate you on. So just sit back and pay attention.

So as I said adding too much greenhouse gases puts animals and humans in danger. I know what your thinking…. How bad can greenhouse gases be to put animals and humans in danger. Actually, it is so bad it adds heat to the earth and even when its hot enough already. Every year it feels hotter and hotter in the summer. That’s because humans are adding the greenhouse gases to the earth’s atmosphere. In fact, most humans are adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere without knowing it. If you think about it, the bigger our population: the more resources we need to live. One of the biggest resources humans need to live is energy. Most of the things we use everyday uses energy. For example: light, cars, cell phones, computers, TV’s, and video games. There is more than that but that is all I can think of for now. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that causes the earth to warm up. This process involves the sun and many gases in our atmosphere.

Our energy comes from fossil fuels, which is oil, coal, and natural gas. Fossil fuels are an important resource for energy. Fossils are formed when plants and animals die and are covered in sediment and pressed for many thousands of years. Climate change is very dangerous. That is why I need to explain to you what you can do around and in your home to help stop global warming. Global warming is a process that is caused by fossil fuels, greenhouse gases, and the greenhouse effect. So listen carefully if you are interested in knowing how to stop global warming starting with you. The biggest factor of climate change is the use of energy which as I said is made from the burning of fossil fuels. So when you are at home and a light or the TV is on and it is not in use it would be a big help to turn it off and conserve energy within your home. Carbon dioxide is a harmful gas to humans and animals so planting some trees or flowers also helps a lot. When you are driving it adds more greenhouse gas because you use fuel to fill up your tank, so using a public transportation or riding a bike will help more than anything else when you are outside.
When you are in the kitchen cooking (I know even cooking adds greenhouse gases to the earth) using a toaster or a microwave to cook some food will save much more energy than using an oven . Another big way that energy is used within your kitchen is a dishwasher. Dishwashers use a lot of water and produce a lot of heat, so hand washing a drip drying your dishes is a much more easier way to save energy. And last but not least when your at school recycling stuff that can be recycled instead of throwing it away is also a way you can help stop global warming. Making sure the computers you use in your classroom are all off or on sleep mode when not in use is a even better way to help in school. But the most helpful when trying to help stop global warming is riding your bike or skateboard to school instead of asking your parents for a ride.
So I hope you enjoyed my essay and remember helping stop global warming is a good deed many people don’t think of. Save energy the best you can and have a wonderful day!

How would you change the following passage from third person limited to third person omniscient? (Explain what you would add to the passage to change it.)
Diego looked over the edge. He thought about how far the ground was. The wind gusted. Whitney turned to him and said, "It's beautiful up here, huh?" Diego could
not think about beauty. All he could think about was not falling off the edge. He said, "Yeah, Whitney, it really is beautiful. Hey, how long do you want to stay up
here? Whitney laughed and said, "Let's stay up here the rest of our lives!" Diego grimaced. He was afraid that this scenario was all too likely.

Answers

To change the passage from third-person limited to third-person omniscient, the narrator's perspective needs to be expanded. In the third person omniscient, the narrator is all-knowing and can provide insight and information about the thoughts and feelings of all the characters. To achieve this, the narrator needs to be given an expanded perspective that includes the thoughts and feelings of both Diego and Whitney.

Revised passage:

Diego looked over the edge. He thought about how far the ground was. The wind gusted. Whitney turned to him and said, "It's beautiful up here, huh?" Diego could not think about beauty. All he could think about was not falling off the edge. He said, "Yeah, Whitney, it really is beautiful. Hey, how long do you want to stay up here?"

Diego wondered why Whitney was so carefree. Didn't she realize the danger they were in? He wished he could calm his racing heart and enjoy the stunning scenery, but all he saw was the possibility of a deadly fall. Meanwhile, Whitney's thoughts were of a different nature. She felt liberated and invigorated as if she had escaped the confines of the world below. When Diego asked how long they wanted to stay up there, Whitney laughed at the absurdity of the question. She felt like they could stay up there forever and never need anything else. This scenario was far from Diego's mind though. He could only think of slipping off the edge and failing to get back up.
