If you are interested in becoming a news reporter, start thinking about what kind of stories you want to write. News stories are usually divided into two types: hard news and soft news.
Hard news stories are usually about important events that are being reported on as they happen. Stories about things like politics, war, and crime fall into this group. They take a factual approach: What happened? When? Who was involved? Hard news is also called “general news” sometimes.
Soft news stories entertain the reader. They give background information and often tell a story. These stories are considered “human interest” because they talk about people in a personal or emotional way. They include information about their problems or concerns in a way that makes people sympathize.

“Teach It” Tuesday
Think of one thing you are really good at. How would you teach it to someone else? You may list it in 7 or more steps or write a paragraph that contains 7 or more sentences. Don’t forget to mention any important rules or directions.
Answer:
Personally, for me, I am good at playing the drums. I would teach somebody little by little. First, I would teach them timing, then I would show them how to count bars and measures, last, I would show them how to play a four count. I will always be asking the student how they are doing with this their new talent or "gift", and I would have practices with them daily. When they have the basics down then I would go to the next step the "boots and cats" beat. Very simple beat, but it requires independence from each body part.
Read the excerpt from the primary source, "A Letter Written by Sarah Stockert."
When my chance at stardom arrived, I answered the call immediately and wholeheartedly. As they say, the show must go on! My acting instinct rose to the occasion. I knew my lines, and no one would have known I had the slightest hint of stage fright.
Striding onto the stage and taking my mark, my persona changed. The nerves vanished. Where to? I don't have a clue. In their place, perseverance and a little bit of confidence. The overhead lights were hot, blinding, and made it impossible to decipher faces. To be honest, I was a little annoyed that the producer hadn't noticed and turned them down.
Read the excerpt from the secondary source, "The Show Must Go On."
The producer called a quick intermission. Audience members were left bored and clueless waiting for the show to resume. The stage curtains were drawn, and behind the scenes, a search began. It seems that nerves had gotten the best of our star. Rumors were confirmed that Stockert had suffered a case of stage fright. She was found pacing in her dressing room. Nervous and too stunned to perform, she stalled the entire performance for a period of 20 minutes.
The show did go on, and when the performance resumed, Stockert was already in position. Her onstage entrance had been removed. The glare of the bright lights ensured that our lead did not make eye contact with the audience. The strategies to remedy her stage fright worked.
What is the major difference between the retelling of Sarah Stockert's performance in the primary and secondary sources?
In the primary text, Sarah is not nervous.
In the primary text, Sarah never makes it to the stage.
In the secondary text, the audience is frustrated by Sarah's delay.
In the secondary text, the audience is unaware of Sarah's nerves.
What is the same about the retelling of Sarah Stockert's first night on Broadway in the texts "A Letter Written by Sarah Stockert" and "The Show Must Go On."
In both texts, the audience was frustrated.
In both texts, the audience was unaware of any problems.
In both texts, Sarah Stockert impressed the crowd.
In both texts, Sarah Stockert was nervous to perform

Through many of the early chapters of Little Women, the March girls make reference to the allegorical Pilgrim’s Progress. Explain how one of the girls, or the family as a whole, relates to the characters and themes in Pilgrim’s Progress. Include details that indicate comparisons that Louisa May Alcott makes between Little Women and Pilgrim’s Progress.
Answer:
This book is prefaced by the novel The Pilgrim's Progress that is a symbol of how to live as a Christian. In this preface it is included the females character of the book, MERCY, no its male character, so it is a sign that this book is a guide for young girls, it is a guide to get the salvation and the self-improvement.
Alcott wants to emphasize that religion is more important that everyday details of life. The four March sisters have to follow saintly feet and have a spiritual journey through their lives, in spite their situation as "little tripping maids".
"Tell them of Mercy; she is one
Who early hath her pilgrimage begun.
Yea, let young damsels learn of her to prize
The world which is to come, and so be wise;
For little tripping maids may follow God
Along the ways which saintly feet have trod."

Title of Novel or Short Story: "Esperanza Rising" by Pam Muñoz Ryan
Setting: The story takes place in the 1930s in both Mexico and California. The setting of the Great Depression heavily influences the plot and characters.
Protagonist: Esperanza is a young, privileged girl from a wealthy family in Mexico who is forced to flee to California after her father's death. She faces numerous challenges as she adjusts to a new life as a migrant farm worker.
Quotation: "Esperanza was a girl who loved the stories Papa told. They were stories of magic and beauty, of the country of Mexico and the different regions where Mama and Papa had grown up" (page 3).
Conflict: The main conflict in the story is external and comes from the challenges Esperanza and her family face as migrant farm workers during the Great Depression. They encounter racism, difficult working conditions, and other obstacles that threaten their safety and well-being.
Quotation: "Esperanza felt as if she were looking at the ocean, which she had seen only once and which scared her with its immensity" (page 31).
Antagonist: The antagonist in the story is the difficult living and working conditions that Esperanza and her family face as migrant farm workers. Additionally, the racism and discrimination they encounter from other workers and locals add to their struggles.
Quotation: "The bosses had made their point. The Mexican workers needed the white workers more than the white workers needed them" (page 108).
Backstory: An important piece of the backstory is that Esperanza's father was a wealthy landowner in Mexico, and their family had many luxuries and privileges. However, his death and the Mexican Revolution forced them to flee to the United States and start a new life.
Quotation: "Mama never talked about the revolution. She said it made her sad" (page 6).
Plot Development: Early in the story, Esperanza and her family experience tragedy when her father is killed by bandits. This event sets off a chain of events that forces them to flee to the United States and adjust to a completely new way of life.
Quotation: "Esperanza didn't know how they would go on without Papa. She couldn't imagine how they would live without his protection" (page 12).

PLEASE HELP NEED THIS DONE BY THE END OF THE DAY!!! Write a brief objective summary of chapter 2 of Trash Vortex. Be sure to include two central ideas and how they are developed in the text.
Summary of Trash Vortex:
Plastic started to flood into people's lives. It replaced lots of other materials too. Also, it would be transformed into new objects. Children would play with plastic putty. This shows us that plastic is really popular, but the cost of being popular can harm our environment. People use plastic materials in their modern life. Plastic offered other conveniences such as disposable items like plates, cups, napkins. Although they're all meant to be thrown away after use.
Plastic trash began to accumulate in waterways. This caused waterways to be polluted and non-safe drinking water with diseases. For example, Ohio's river was so polluted with chemicals it caught on fire. causing to catch the attention of government leaders. The federal clean water act added rules in 1972 on industrial plants along waterways. That said waterways continued to trash accumulating a bit in reason of wind sweeping plastic and other non-disposable items.
I'm not sure if this is correct if Trash Vortex is about plastic and pollution, but I'm glad I helped. :)
