Refer to the article "Opinion: Bicultural Identity Is Something to Be Embraced."
Read the claim and the reason.
Claim: Young people may be more capable of embracing their bicultural identity and sharing it with the dominant culture.
Reason: Her daughter openly talks to her friends about Indian culture, sharing information about Indian dance and music.
How does this reason logically support the author's claim?
A: It shows how much sharing one's culture breaks down barriers to acceptance.
B: It shows how much work the author has done to teach her daughter to be proud of her heritage.
C: It shows that her daughter is confident in herself and comfortable with her Indian and American identities.
D: It describes how it can be challenging to fit into a dominant culture.
Answer:
I'm confident the answer would be C!
Explanation:
Mainly because if her friends asked about her culture most would be scared but unlike others she was confident and wanted to educate her friends
Answer:
The answer is C.
Explanation:
The answer isn't A, because the reason doesn't talk about acceptance. The answer also isn't B, because the reason doesn't bring up the author teaching her daughter how to be proud. The answer also isn't D, because the reason talks nothing about any challenges the daughter had fitting into her culture. So that leaves C, and since the reason says the daughter 'openly talks to her friends about her Indian culture' that implies that she is confident enough in herself and her identity to talk about her heritage.

Africanized honey bees were created in Brazil in 1957. Scientists mixed local bees with African ones to create a bee that would make more honey. They ended up with something much different. The new bees evolved in unexpected ways. They multiplied and migrated north. These Africanized honeybees are now known as killer bees for several scary but legitimate reasons.
Killer bees are far more aggressive than their relatives. They have been known to attack in great numbers, even when there has been no direct threat on their hives. They have swarmed because of loud noises, dark clothing, bright jewelry, and even strong perfume. They will chase a person for more than a quarter of a mile and remain angered for up to 24 hours.
Killer bees are also dangerous because of their sting. While most bees take up to 30 seconds to attack, killer bees sting in just 3 seconds. Their venom is no stronger than a regular bee's, but when one killer bee stings, others follow. With up to 80,000 members in a colony, victims are quickly overwhelmed. So many stings in such a short time can cause allergic reactions. Victims enter a state of shock, lose blood pressure, and in many cases, die.
A final reason why "killer" has been added to their name is the unfortunate number of deaths they have caused. Experts estimate that the Africanized honeybee moves at a rate of about 200 miles each year. As the bees claim new territory, they claim new victims as well. More than 1000 people have been stung to death in South and Central America. There have been rising numbers of attacks in Mexico and a handful in the United States. Once a swarm sets sights on a victim, it is very difficult for the victim to escape. Once attacked, it is very difficult to survive.
Thankfully, there has been no killer bee invasion as some once predicted. Although there is no need for panic, the threat of the killer bee is real and should be taken seriously. It is good practice to call a professional to remove beehives in your area. If you are stung multiple times by any insect, you should always seek medical attention. You may not be expert enough to tell the difference between a killer bee and a less dangerous one, so be smart. It is better to be safe than sorry.
Which sentence from the conclusion paragraph best rephrases the author's thesis?
a)Thankfully, there has been no killer bee invasion as some once predicted.
b)Although there is no need for panic, the threat of the killer bee is real and should be taken seriously.
c)You may not be expert enough to tell the difference between a killer bee and a less dangerous one, so be smart.
d)It is better to be safe than sorry.

Mr. Avery boarded across the street from Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose's house. Besides
making change in the collection plate every Sunday, Mr. Avery sat on the porch every night until
nine o'clock and sneezed. One evening we were privileged to witness a performance by him
which seemed to have been his positively last, for he never did it again so long as we watched.
Jem and I were leaving Miss Rachel's front steps one night when Dill stopped us: "Golly, looka
yonder." He pointed across the street. At first we saw nothing but a kudzu-covered front porch,
but a closer inspection revealed an arc of water descending from the leaves and splashing in the
yellow circle of the street light, some ten feet from source to earth, ensuing contest to determine
relative distances and respective prowess only made me feel left out again, as I was untalented in
this area.

I have a short article and down below is the link. Write a short paragraph that explains the central idea of the article. Use at least two details from the article to support your response.
Sloths are notorious for being slow, traveling a mere 0.03 kilometers (120 feet) each day. These live high up in the trees of Central and South American forests. Their slow movements may not make them that exciting to watch, but if you're a scientist who is studying them, that slowness is a big plus.
"They're actually a great study animal for the wild because you can collect a lot of data on them," says Giles Duffield. He is a biologist at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
A few years back, Duffield studied birds in Bolivia, but it was a lot harder to study a bird than a sloth. "You'd see some parrots and you'd make some notes and then they were gone and you wouldn't see them again for another 24 hours," he says.
Duffield and his colleagues now collect data on the brown-throated three-toed sloths that live in the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. In June 2020, Duffield reported his work studying sloths and their circadian rhythms. These are the 24 hour schedules that control the sleeping and eating patterns of animals.
A Lot Of Rest
Brown-throated three-toed sloths can stay in sight—or even in the same tree—for nearly 24 hours. They rest anywhere from 75 to 90 percent of the time, allowing scientists like Duffield to closely observe sloths in their habitat, or natural environment where it lives.
Older studies on sloths suggested that sloths could be nocturnal, which means they are active during the night and sleep during the day. Other studies showed they had no set activity pattern of waking and sleeping at all: they are active at any time during their 24-hour cycle, night or day, without any issues.
Duffield and his team, on the other hand, found that their sloths were mostly diurnal, meaning they're active during the day and sleep during the night. "So this was kind of the opposite to what we'd expected," he says.
The scientists wanted to find out why their results were so different from the conclusions that previous scientists made. One possibility is that Duffield's study was unique because the team observed the sloths over complete 24-hour cycles. They monitored the sloths this way for 29 days, providing a clearer picture of sloth behavior.
There's another difference between Duffield's work and previous research: the habitats the sloths lived in. The brown-throated three-toed sloths lived in habitats disturbed by humans, while other sloths were in undisturbed habitats.
Damaged Ecosystems
The sloth's Atlantic Forest home is in trouble, with an estimated 98 percent of its woodland being lost. The forest has been highly disturbed by humans, who have hunted its animals, cleared its trees, built many roads, and developed the land. This means that a lot of the animals and plants that once lived there are gone. The sloth's predators, the animals that would eat the sloths for food, are gone too.
Sloths may have been nocturnal to improve their chances of survival in a more challenging environment. But Duffield thinks that because their predators in the Atlantic Forest are now extinct, sloths don't have to compete with other species for food. The animals can find enough food to live during the daytime instead of mostly at night. The switch between nighttime and daytime behaviors could be the way sloths handle a damaged ecosystem. These are biological communities made up of plants, animals, and microorganisms.
"A lot of organisms can't readily change their day to night activity," he says. "Their survival strategy requires one or the other." So it may well be that change, or that association with daytime as opposed to nighttime, or not having a set activity pattern, does change some of the organisms associated with the sloth. For example, algae and insects find homes in sloth fur.
"That's something we'd love to examine," Duffield says. For this new research, Duffield's most important piece of equipment is perhaps a comfortable chair.
Sloths live in Central and South American Forest. They are slowand very cute. Scientists find intersting while other migth find them boring.

A) As Nikki arrived, she saw the band on the stage.
B) The band played songs for the crowd with guitars.
C) Nikki knew nearly every song the band played.
D) She danced and laughed almost all night long.
Answer: B - The band played songs for the crowd with guitars.
