what did harry and ron learn while hiding in a wardrobe in the staff room

Answers

Harry and Ron learned a great deal while hiding in the wardrobe in the staff room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They overheard a conversation between Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell, which revealed that Quirrell was working for the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort, and was seeking the Philosopher's Stone in order to restore Voldemort to power.

They also learned that the three-headed dog guarding the trapdoor leading to the Stone was in fact Fluffy, Hagrid's beloved pet, and that it was being charmed to sleep by music. This knowledge allowed them to plan their own attempt to retrieve the Stone, and ultimately led to their successful defeat of Voldemort and his attempt to steal the Stone.

Additionally, while hiding in the wardrobe, Harry and Ron also observed some of the day-to-day workings of the Hogwarts staff, such as the meetings they held and the conversations they had with each other. This gave them a better understanding of the inner workings of the school and the people who ran it, and helped them to better navigate the challenges they faced as students.

4. As a son/daughter, what does the
text make you realize? death of a salesman

Answers

Answer:

it makes me realize that salesman was to die for

Answer:

In the First Lesson by Phyllis McGinely, he refers to the fathers love and how the child may "climb, and they fear you'll fall". That is how my father feels bout me, he allows me to climb as high as I can reach, but he always is afraid I'll fall and get hurt. Yet, I know that "his love kindle[s] in the dark" even though in person he doesn't like to show it to me (Secret Heart). My mom on the other hand is very affectionate and loves to show her feelings of people. She is always expressing her love for my dad and us, whereas my dad doesn't, you just have to assume that's how he feels.

The poem "First Lesson", can be easily related to the relationship that my dad and I share. My father always tries to protect me now, and to teach me lessons for when I "walk alone". My father, my "dragon-seeker", looks to protect me from all of the "romantic terrors" that I will come across through life. Although my father and I both have days where we want to leave each other alone, he is always there for me. My father and I both know that in less than a year and a half, I will branch out and go to a school that is farther away than I have ever been. We both are aware that we will not see each other every morning and every night when we go to sleep. But, the one thing that we both have to keep in mind is that I will not be gone forever. My father knows that I will branch out, meet new people and live somewhere new, but I will always come home. My father knows that I am his baby, his only daughter, and he is my only father. This is how the poem "First Lesson" can be easily related to the relationship that my father and I share.

My Papa’s Waltz shows a very complex situation between a father and a son which it is geared towards a very specific audience. The poem mentions how "The whisky on your breath, could make a small boy dizzy; But I hung on like death”. This implies that the father, although may have suffered from alcoholism, the son still stayed loyal to his father. This is different from my personal situation because I do not have a strong “like death” relationship,or that inevitable father-daughter bond. Within this poem, it explains how although his father is a rough man, meaning he does drink and works hard, yet still has his child looking up to him and being a role model. It goes to show that you can have a rough exterior, yet still be a good parent.

In the poem, Taught Me Purple it explains how in a single mother situation, she wants to show her children how beautiful the world can be outside this little world. This is similar to my life in the way that my mom has always showed me the natural beauty of the world. My mother always made sure that we were active outside, and she “reached for beauty” much like the mother in the poem. The relationship also seemed very strong between the mother and her children, which is like how I am with my own. Overall, in both my personal relationship with my parents and the one the children have with their parent in the poem, are very similar. My parents want to show me what the world has to offer, not just what the current living situation is now.

do you think you should believe every thing you read in first person

Answers

We should not believe every thing we read if it is written in the first person, because first-person narrators are biased and the story is seen from their eyes.

The issue with first-person narrators

Several famous novels and stories are narrated from a first-person perspective. A first-person narrator is a character in the story. Instead of being an external observer, the narrator is a part of everything that happens.

That is why first-person narrators should never be trusted. They tell the story from a biased perspective. If they tell readers someone is not a good person, for example, that is not necessarily the truth - it is just his or her opinion. First-person narrators can easily lie to the audience.

For example, in the famous short story "The Tell-Tale Heart," by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator claims to be sane. However, we can clearly see signs of madness in his actions and thoughts. Therefore, he is lying.

Beer sales by the ECC Student Union could raise additional money for funding student initiatives including clubs, events, and other activities. Selling beer would generate extra revenue from attendees of those events as well as those who come particularly to purchase beer.

The student activities on and off campus may then be supported and sustained with the additional funds, enabling students to engage in enjoyable experiences and gain priceless knowledge outside of the classroom. It also provides a great social environment for students to interact with one another and build relationships.

However, there are some cons to allowing the Student Union to sell beer. It could potentially create safety issues, as alcohol can lead to careless behavior and an increase in underage drinking. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
"A Psalm of Life- essay about 1500 words.

Answers

Answer:

Hope this made your day:)

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is widely regarded as one of the most prominent American poets of the 19th century. Born on February 27, 1807, in Portland, Maine, Longfellow's literary contributions have left an enduring impact on American literature. His works are known for their lyrical beauty, moral earnestness, and the ability to resonate with readers on a deeply emotional level. Among his notable poems, "A Psalm of Life" stands as a testament to Longfellow's optimistic and philosophical outlook on life."A Psalm of Life" was published in 1838 as part of Longfellow's collection titled "Voices of the Night." The poem presents a call to action, urging readers to live a meaningful and purposeful life. It explores existential questions, addresses the transience of life, and offers guidance on how to find solace and fulfillment amidst the uncertainties of existence. The poem opens with the famous lines, "Tell me not, in mournful numbers, / Life is but an empty dream!" Longfellow immediately dismisses the idea of life being devoid of significance and embraces a more hopeful perspective. He rejects the notion that life is merely a fleeting illusion and encourages readers to seize the present moment, to make the most of their time on Earth.Longfellow then proceeds to challenge the reader's tendency to dwell on the past or fret about the future. He emphasizes the importance of living in the present, suggesting that dwelling on regrets or fears inhibits personal growth. Instead, he implores individuals to act with determination, urging them to "act, act in the living present" and not waste their lives in idle contemplation.Throughout the poem, Longfellow employs vivid imagery to depict the struggles and challenges of life. He acknowledges the inevitability of hardship, using metaphors such as "the world is a field of battle" and "the grave is not its goal" to emphasize that life is a constant struggle, but death is not its ultimate end. Longfellow suggests that adversity should not deter individuals from pursuing their dreams and aspirations. One of the central messages of "A Psalm of Life" is the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. Longfellow asserts that life's difficulties are meant to be overcome and that every setback is an opportunity for personal growth. He encourages readers to maintain a positive outlook, proclaiming, "Trust no future, however pleasant! / Let the dead Past bury its dead!" This sentiment reinforces the idea that dwelling on past failures or longing for an idealized future is counterproductive.Furthermore, Longfellow emphasizes the significance of leaving a lasting legacy. He argues that the impact we make on others and the world transcends our mortal existence. Longfellow writes, "Footprints on the sands of time" to illustrate the idea that our actions have the power to influence future generations. He urges readers to lead a life of purpose and virtue, one that inspires and uplifts others. The poem's final stanza serves as a resounding conclusion to Longfellow's message. He implores readers to be steadfast and resolute in their pursuit of a meaningful life. Longfellow writes, "Lives of great men all remind us / We can make our lives sublime." He highlights the accomplishments of notable individuals who have left an indelible mark on history, emphasizing that ordinary people have the capacity to achieve greatness as well.In "A Psalm of Life," Longfellow combines elements of both Romantic and Transcendentalist poetry. He captures the Romantic emphasis on individualism and the exploration of inner emotions, while also embracing the Transcendentalist belief in the inherent goodness of humanity and the power of the human spirit to transcend worldly limitations.Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Through her vivid descriptions, the reader is able to picture the room and the surrounding environment, which is meant to be a peaceful retreat but becomes a prison for the narrator. The protagonist, the narrator, is well-characterized through her inner thoughts, her interactions with her husband, and her obsession with the wallpaper. The plot involves the narrator's descent into madness and her eventual realization that her husband, who is a doctor, has been mistreating her. The theme of the story deals with the oppression of women in society and the stifling effect it can have on their mental health. “The Romantic Era” is the first unit in this course that has featured literature in prose form (novels). Today, fiction is the most popular form of literature, and romantic poetry especially is said to appeal to a broader audience than the poetry of earlier eras. As a reader, do you feel this is true? How accessible do you find the literature of the romantic era? Which texts were more accessible than others? What about these texts made them easier to comprehend and/or enjoy?

Answers

Answer:

As a reader, fiction is both the easiest accessible and most enjoyable genre to read. Though romantic poetry is the most commonly enjoyed poetry, it is nowhere near the most popular genre. This is most likely due to the way poetry is designed. Its intention is to make you think and form your own opinion on what you have read. (seeing as poetry is never read the same way twice) Alternatively, not everyone enjoys romantic pieces. However, fiction is a much more broad genre with more options. This means it could be at various reading levels, or be something much more lighthearted. Children and young adults are more likely to read fiction. Because of this, fiction would be both easier to comprehend, and more accessible.

The given sentence, "An aunt or uncle who has no biological or marital relationship is an example of a fictive kinship."

What is Fictive Kinship?

Fictive Kinship is a type of kinship formed between individuals who are not biologically or legally related, but who engage in intimate relationships and who consider themselves to be family. The use of "aunt" or "uncle" to describe a non-relative reflects the use of "family" language to define close social relationships. This type of kinship relationship is formed based on social practices, such as a childless couple who adopts a child and becomes the child's legal parents.

In addition to the formal legal arrangements that govern relationships, families and communities also form social bonds that bind them together. Fictive kinship is one example of such social bonds. People can develop strong emotional ties to people they consider family, even if they are not related by blood or marriage.

While options A, C, and D align with Puritanism, option B contradicts the Puritan belief system. Puritans believed in the concept of predestination, which stated that God had already determined the fate of individuals, whether they would go to heaven or hell, and it was beyond human control. What does the speaker hope to achieve in each of the poems? And how did they achieve it?
Poem 1:“It's This Way”
By Nazim Hikmet
I stand in the advancing light,
my hands hungry, the world beautiful.
My eyes can't get enough of the trees--
they're so hopeful, so green.
A sunny road runs through the mulberries,
I'm at the window of the prison infirmary.
I can't smell the medicines--
carnations must be blooming nearby.
It's this way:
being captured is beside the point,
the point is not to surrender.

Poem 2:
"Your Laughter"
By Pablo Neruda
Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but
do not take from me your laughter.
Do not take away the rose,
the lanceflower that you pluck,
the water that suddenly
bursts forth in your joy,
the sudden wave
of silver born in you.
My struggle is harsh and I come back
with eyes tired
at times from having seen
the unchanging earth,
but when your laughter enters
it rises to the sky seeking me
and it opens for me all
the doors of life.
My love, in the darkest
hour your laughter
opens, and if suddenly
you see my blood staining
the stones of the street,
laugh, because your laughter
will be for my hands
like a fresh sword.
Next to the sea in the autumn,
your laughter must raise
its foamy cascade,
and in the spring, love,
I want your laughter like
the flower I was waiting for,
the blue flower, the rose
of my echoing country.
Laugh at the night,
at the day, at the moon,
laugh at the twisted
streets of the island,
laugh at this clumsy
boy who loves you,
but when I open
my eyes and close them,
when my steps go,
when my steps return,
deny me bread, air,
light, spring,
but never your laughter
for I would die.

Answers

Buoyancy is what keeps a cruise ship weighing over 50,000 tons afloat and prevents it from sinking in the ocean.

Buoyancy is the property or ability or tendency to float in water or air or some other fluid. In other words, it is the power of a liquid to keep things afloat. So, even though it makes more sense for a very heavy ship to sink, it sails successfully through the ocean because of buoyancy.

This problem was solved by the famous mathematician, Archimedes, who screamed 'Eureka!' (meaning found it) as soon as he found the solution. He discovered gigantic vessels manage to stay afloat by displacing the amount of water equivalent to their mass.

What is the difference between a full citation and a parenthetical in text citation?

Answers

A narrative citation is a style of citation in which the author's name appears in the sentence's body; in contrast, a parenthetical citation places the author and date at the conclusion of the phrase.

The primary distinction between an in-text citation and a reference is that the latter is a listing of citations that gives the reader access to all of the information from the original sources and appears at the end of a work.

Parenthetical citations are in-text referrals to primary sources in your essay. This avoids the hassle of creating endnotes or footnotes and enables the reader to understand right away where your material originates.

Giving full credit for other people's ideas enables you to avoid plagiarism. It enables others to recognize and find the resources you utilized to create your work. Citations are frequently used by readers to find further works on a subject that are pertinent.
