Calculate the concentration, in moles per litre, of a solution formed when 13.0 g of calcium hydroxide is dissolved in 5.0 L. Please show work!

Answers

Answer 1

Answer: The concentration, in moles per litre, of a solution formed when 13.0 g of calcium hydroxide is dissolved in 5.0 L is 0.036 M

Explanation:

Molarity of a solution is defined as the number of moles of solute dissolved per liter of the solution.

\(Molarity=\frac{n}{V_s}\)

where,

n = moles of solute

\(V_s\) = volume of solution in L

moles of \(Ca(OH)_2\) = \(\frac{\text {given mass}}{\text {Molar mass}}=\frac{13.0g}{74g/mol}=0.18mol\)

Now put all the given values in the formula of molality, we get

\(Molarity=\frac{0.18}{5.0L}=0.036M\)

Therefore, the concentration, in moles per litre, of a solution formed when 13.0 g of calcium hydroxide is dissolved in 5.0 L is 0.036 M

Hey Lenny lately I’ve been having a rough time in the water cycle. It all started when I was chilling in my favorite location the “glaciars” and suddenly the sun turned me into liquid form. Next thing I know I am hurdling down a river straight into a massive lake. Personally this is my least favorite stage of the water cycle because of kids and bacteria that lurk in the water, very scary things. I didn’t stop at the lake very long, and instead sunk into the soil in a process called collection so I could become ground water. Underground reservoir’s are much more peaceful then lakes and I wanted to stay there. However I was forced up a water well pump shortly after and sent through a long tube. Me and couple of the friends I met on the way were all dispersed over a giant grass feild. Many molecules in the group were captured by the hostile plants but I escaped through the means of evaporation. Currently I have condensed into cloud form and I am roaming the skies looking for you, when you get this let me know and I’ll percipitate in your area! Can NiF2 react with K to produce KF and Ni? Why or why not? Question 3 options: A) No, because Ni and K have lower activity than F B) Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni C) Yes, because K has lower activity than Ni D) No, because F and Ni have the same activity

Answers

Answer:

The correct option is;

B) Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni

Explanation:

The chemical equation for the reaction is as follows;

NiF₂ + K → 2KF + Ni

Based on chemical reactivity of the metals nickel and potassium involved in the reaction, we have;

On the activity series, potassium is higher up and therefore more reactive than nickel such that it can displace hydrogen from cold water while hydrogen will be evolved from only an acid in the case of nickel

Hence, the potassium will be able to replace Ni in the NiF₂ compound due to its higher reactivity such that we have;

2k (s) + Ni⁺² (aq) → 2k⁺ + Ni (s)

Answer:

Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni

Max and Jimmy want to jump on a trampoline. Max begins jumping in a steady pattern, making small waves in the trampoline. Jimmy starts jumping on the trampoline too. Suddenly, Max goes twice as high even though he did not put any extra effort into jumping.

What type of wave interaction is this? Explain how it occurred.

Answers

This seems like wave interference.

Because there is one wave interfering with the other. They are both separate waves with completely different patterns, and they are running into each other.

Hope this helps! :)

Answer: The wave interaction described in the scenario is known as constructive interference.

Explanation:

Constructive interference occurs when two waves meet and combine in such a way that their amplitudes add up, resulting in a larger wave. In this case, Max's steady pattern of jumping creates small waves on the trampoline, with a certain amplitude.

When Jimmy starts jumping on the trampoline, his waves combine with Max's waves. If the peaks and troughs of both waves align perfectly, they will add up, resulting in a wave with a larger amplitude. This alignment of peaks and troughs leads to constructive interference, causing Max to go twice as high without any additional effort.

The reason behind this phenomenon lies in the nature of waves. When waves meet, their amplitudes can either add up or cancel out, depending on their relative positions. In the case of constructive interference, the peaks of one wave align with the peaks of the other wave, and the troughs align with the troughs, resulting in an increased amplitude. Conversely, in destructive interference, the peaks align with the troughs, leading to a cancellation or reduction in amplitude.

So, in the scenario, Jimmy's waves align with Max's waves in such a way that their amplitudes combine constructively, resulting in Max going twice as high on the trampoline without exerting any extra effort.

What happens to the atoms that make up hydrogen fuel as it burns?

Answers

Answer:

When hydrogen fuel burns, its atoms combine with oxygen atoms in the air, which creates a chemical reaction that releases energy in the form of heat and light. The hydrogen atoms lose their outermost electrons, becoming positively charged ions (protons). These ions combine with the oxygen atoms to form water molecules (H2O), which evaporate into the air as steam. Therefore, the atoms that make up hydrogen fuel ultimately become part of water molecules during the process of combustion.

Explanation:

When hydrogen fuel burns, its atoms combine with oxygen atoms to form water molecules. So the atoms that make up hydrogen fuel become part of the water molecules.

Why do you think that the neutron was the last of the atom components to be discovered?

Answers

Answer:

The neutron was the last of the atomic components to be discovered because it does not have an electric charge, making it difficult to detect. It was also not predicted by early atomic theories, leading scientists to believe that the atomic nucleus was composed solely of protons. The discovery of the neutron required the development of new experimental techniques, such as neutron scattering, to detect its presence.

it doesn’t have a charge so it was harder to detect.
