August 15, 2017
Dear Editor,

Lately, our neighborhood has become extremely noisy. This has occurred because a mall is being constructed close to the residential quarters, and the construction activities have filled our streets with noise and smoke. For several hours each day, huge trucks line up the streets to deliver construction material. This has caused the streets to be overcrowded, resulting in traffic jams. The constant traffic jams and construction have not only caused noise pollution but have also increased air pollution. This situation is causing damage to the health of the people. It particularly affects the sleep quality and overall health of adults as well as kids.
The increase in noise and air pollution is a big threat to the health of the people. I would like to urge the city authorities to rethink their decision to build a mall in such a locality. Once the mall is ready, the traffic situation will only get worse. If city authorities do not cancel their plans, they should at least install noise-blocking boards around all houses to reduce the problem of noise pollution.

Sincerely,
Valencia Woods

Answer: This Idiom means the people with the slightest knowledge about anything will have more opinions.

Explanation: This means that the vessel with the most minor water (for instance) will make the most noise. For example, considering the completely hollow drums will make a sound that is too loud. The basic idea behind this idiom is the same.

A very good example is as depicted:

Thomas: Hey Shane, do you know who is the person who is bullying Rachel in school?

Shane: Yes Thomas uncle.

Thomas: Could you give this letter to your class in charge complaining about that guy?

Shane: Why not uncle Thomas; but you know what he's an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.

Thomas: I didn't get you, Shane.

Shane: As this time Rachel has topped the class and he was topper of the previous examination, he's just gossi[ping about here.

This is a perfect example of empty vessels making more noise.

This also depicts a society in another manner that without total knowledge keeps judging other humans.

I believe the answer is dual language learning. Hope this helps!

The immersion approach to teaching English as a second language (option d) may contribute to children's feelings of isolation, anxiety, and frustration.

In immersion programs, students are often taught entirely in English without any support in their native language. This can lead to difficulties in understanding and participating in classroom activities, making students feel isolated from their peers and anxious about their language abilities. Dual immersion, two-way immersion, and dual language learning (options a, b, and c) generally incorporate native language support, making them more supportive for second language learners. Option d is correct.

Read the excerpt from Animal Farm.

Mr. Pilkington, of Foxwood, had stood up, his mug in his hand. In a moment, he said, he would ask the present company to drink a toast. But before doing so, there were a few words that he felt it incumbent upon him to say.

It was a source of great satisfaction to him, he said—and, he was sure, to all others present—to feel that a long period of mistrust and misunderstanding had now come to an end. There had been a time—not that he, or any of the present company, had shared such sentiments—but there had been a time when the respected proprietors of Animal Farm had been regarded, he would not say with hostility, but perhaps with a certain measure of misgiving, by their human neighbours. Unfortunate incidents had occurred, mistaken ideas had been current. It had been felt that the existence of a farm owned and operated by pigs was somehow abnormal and was liable to have an unsettling effect in the neighbourhood. Too many farmers had assumed, without due enquiry, that on such a farm a spirit of licence and indiscipline would prevail. They had been nervous about the effects upon their own animals, or even upon their human employees. But all such doubts were now dispelled. Today he and his friends had visited Animal Farm and inspected every inch of it with their own eyes, and what did they find? Not only the most up-to-date methods, but a discipline and an orderliness which should be an example to all farmers everywhere. He believed that he was right in saying that the lower animals on Animal Farm did more work and received less food than any animals in the county. Indeed, he and his fellow-visitors today had observed many features which they intended to introduce on their own farms immediately.

What results from the human farmers’ visit to Animal Farm? Select two options.

The farmers fear that their animals will rebel as well.
The farmers are impressed with how well the farm is run.
The farmers vow to implement the same kinds of systems.
The farmers decide that they want to be a part of the farm.
The farmers are upset that the animals distrust them.

Answers

Answer:

B.) The farmers are impressed with how well the farm is run.

C.) The farmers vow to implement the same kinds of systems.

What was the great satisfaction to Mr. Pilkington?

With his cup in hand, Mr. Pilkington of Foxwood had risen to his hands. He said that he would make a toast in a minute to the current company. There were a few things he thought he needed to say first, though, so he did so.

Feeling as though a protracted time of hatred and misunderstanding had finally come to an end was a source of immense happiness for him and, he felt certain, for everyone else present. There was a period when the esteemed owners of Animal Farm were regarded, he wouldn't say with hatred, but not that he or any of the current firm shared those attitudes.

Staying at home, reading books, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends are some of the activities that one can enjoy during the summer holidays.

Summer holidays are the time when students get to take a break from their regular school routine and enjoy some time off with their family and friends. This summer, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people had to stay at home to keep themselves and others safe. Similarly, I also spent most of my time at home during my summer break, but I also managed to have some fun. I would spend my mornings and afternoons studying and completing any pending school assignments.

However, I made sure to take frequent breaks to keep myself refreshed. During my break time, I would usually watch some movies or listen to music. I also enjoyed reading books and playing video games. My parents also encouraged me to spend some time in outdoor activities, so sometimes I went to play football with my friends. It was refreshing to be out in the sun and fresh air, and it was an excellent way to keep myself active and healthy.

On some days, my family would go for a picnic to a nearby park. We would take some food and drinks, and we would spend the day playing games and chatting with each other. It was a fantastic way to bond and spend some quality time with my family. Although we could not travel or go on a vacation this year, I still had a memorable summer break.

what type of nonverbal communication involves gestures and body movements? body language paralanguage eye contact spatial relationship

Answers

Answer:

Nonverbal communication means conveying information without using words.

This might involve using certain facial expressions or hand gestures to make a specific point, or it could involve the use (or non-use) of eye contact, physical proximity, and other nonverbal cues to get a message across.

A substantial portion of our communication is nonverbal. In fact, some researchers suggest that the percentage of nonverbal communication is four times that of verbal communication, with 80% of what we communicate involving our actions and gestures versus only 20% being conveyed with the use of words.

Every day, we respond to thousands of nonverbal cues and behaviours, including postures, facial expressions, eye gaze, gestures, and tone of voice. From our handshakes to our hairstyles, our nonverbal communication reveals who we are and impacts how we relate to other people.

1. Facial Expressions

Facial expressions are responsible for a huge proportion of nonverbal communication. Consider how much information can be conveyed with a smile or a frown. The look on a person's face is often the first thing we see, even before we hear what they have to say.

While nonverbal communication and behaviour can vary dramatically between cultures, facial expressions for happiness, sadness, anger, and fear are similar throughout the world.

2. Gestures

Deliberate movements and signals are an important way to communicate meaning without words. Common gestures include waving, pointing, and giving a "thumbs up" sign. Other gestures are arbitrary and related to culture.

3. Paralinguistics

Paralinguistics refers to vocal communication that is separate from actual language. This form of nonverbal communication includes factors such as tone of voice, loudness, inflexion, and pitch.

4. Body Language and Posture

Posture and movement can also provide a great deal of information.6 Research on body language has grown significantly since the 1970s, with popular media focusing on the over-interpretation of defensive postures such as arm-crossing and leg-crossing, especially after the publication of Julius Fast's book Body Language.

5. Proxemics (personal space)

The amount of distance we need and the amount of space we perceive as belonging to us are influenced by several factors. Among them are social norms, cultural expectations, situational factors, personality characteristics, and level of familiarity.

6. Eye Gaze

The eyes play a role in nonverbal communication, with such things as looking, staring, and blinking being important cues. For example, when you encounter people or things that you like, your rate of blinking increases and your pupils dilate.

People's eyes can indicate a range of emotions, including hostility, interest, and attraction. People also often utilize eye gaze cues to gauge a person's honesty. Normal, steady eye contact is often taken as a sign that a person is telling the truth and is trustworthy. Shifty eyes and an inability to maintain eye contact, on the other hand, is frequently seen as an indicator that someone is lying or being deceptive.

7. Haptics

Communicating through touch is another important nonverbal communication behaviour. Touch can be used to communicate affection, familiarity, sympathy, and other emotions.

8. Appearance

Our choice of clothing, hairstyle, and other appearance factors are also considered a means of nonverbal communication. Research on colour psychology has demonstrated that different colours can evoke different moods. Appearance can also alter physiological reactions, judgments, and interpretations.

Just think of all the subtle judgments you quickly make about someone based on their appearance. These first impressions are important, which is why experts suggest that job seekers dress appropriately for interviews with potential employers.

Culture is an important influence on how appearances are judged. While thinness tends to be valued in Western cultures, some African cultures relate full-figured bodies to better health, wealth, and social status.

9. Artifacts

Objects and images are also tools that can be used to communicate non-verbally. On an online forum, for example, you might select an avatar to represent your identity and to communicate information about who you are and the things you like.

People often spend a great deal of time developing a particular image and surrounding themselves with objects designed to convey information about the things that are important to them. Uniforms, for example, can be used to transmit a tremendous amount of information about a person.

sorry its so long, i hope it was helpful tho :))

Final answer:

Body language, which involves gestures and body movements, is a type of nonverbal communication. Other types of nonverbal communication include paralanguage, eye contact, and spatial relationships.

Explanation:

The type of nonverbal communication that involves gestures and body movements is called body language. Body language is a form of nonverbally communicating thoughts, feelings, and intentions through various physical behaviors such as posture, facial expressions, and hand gestures. It is central to the communication process as it often conveys more information than verbal communication. For example, you might cross your arms over your chest when you're feeling defensive or look away when you're uncomfortable.

Paralanguage, on the other hand, refers to the tone, pitch, loudness, and rate of speech and can also convey meaning along with words spoken. Eye contact and spatial relationship are other types of nonverbal communication that contribute to how messages are perceived.

What does Fitzgerald ultimately seem to say about whether a person can successfully reinvent him/herself

In Fitzgerald's works, he often portrays characters who attempt to reinvent themselves, but ultimately fail.

He seems to suggest that while it is possible to change one's external appearance or circumstances, true inner transformation is much more difficult to achieve. The characters who attempt to reinvent themselves often do so as a means of escaping their past or trying to attain a certain level of success, but they are ultimately held back by their own flaws and limitations.

Fitzgerald seems to imply that one's true identity and character cannot be erased or changed so easily, and that personal growth and self-improvement require genuine introspection and hard work.
