Answer:
Explanation:
Temporal networks have been increasingly used to model a diversity of systems that evolve in time; for example, human contact structures over which dynamic processes such as epidemics take place. A fundamental aspect of real-life networks is that they are sampled within temporal and spatial frames. Furthermore, one might wish to subsample networks to reduce their size for better visualization or to perform computationally intensive simulations. The sampling method may affect the network structure and thus caution is necessary to generalize results based on samples. In this paper, we study four sampling strategies applied to a variety of real-life temporal networks. We quantify the biases generated by each sampling strategy on a number of relevant statistics such as link activity, temporal paths and epidemic spread. We find that some biases are common in a variety of networks and statistics, but one strategy, uniform sampling of nodes, shows improved performance in most scenarios. Given the particularities of temporal network data and the variety of network structures, we recommend that the choice of sampling methods be problem oriented to minimize the potential biases for the specific research questions on hand. Our results help researchers to better design network data collection protocols and to understand the limitations of sampled temporal network data.
Mapping species distributions with MAXENT using a geographically biased sample of presence data: a performance assessment of methods for correcting sampling bias.
PubMed
Fourcade, Yoan; Engler, Jan O; Rödder, Dennis; Secondi, Jean
2014-01-01
MAXENT is now a common species distribution modeling (SDM) tool used by conservation practitioners for predicting the distribution of a species from a set of records and environmental predictors. However, datasets of species occurrence used to train the model are often biased in the geographical space because of unequal sampling effort across the study area. This bias may be a source of strong inaccuracy in the resulting model and could lead to incorrect predictions. Although a number of sampling bias correction methods have been proposed, there is no consensual guideline to account for it. We compared here the performance of five methods of bias correction on three datasets of species occurrence: one "virtual" derived from a land cover map, and two actual datasets for a turtle (Chrysemys picta) and a salamander (Plethodon cylindraceus). We subjected these datasets to four types of sampling biases corresponding to potential types of empirical biases. We applied five correction methods to the biased samples and compared the outputs of distribution models to unbiased datasets to assess the overall correction performance of each method. The results revealed that the ability of methods to correct the initial sampling bias varied greatly depending on bias type, bias intensity and species. However, the simple systematic sampling of records consistently ranked among the best performing across the range of conditions tested, whereas other methods performed more poorly in most cases. The strong effect of initial conditions on correction performance highlights the need for further research to develop a step-by-step guideline to account for sampling bias. However, this method seems to be the most efficient in correcting sampling bias and should be advised in most cases.

general criteria of mental patient
The general criteria for identifying a mental patient include the presence of significant behavioral, cognitive, or emotional disturbances that cause distress or impair daily functioning. These disturbances must not be a result of normal developmental stages or culturally accepted behavior.
1. Behavioral Disturbances: Mental patients may exhibit abnormal or atypical behaviors, such as aggression, withdrawal, hyperactivity, or compulsive actions. These behaviors are often inconsistent with societal norms and may disrupt personal relationships or social interactions.
2. Cognitive Disturbances: Mental patients may experience difficulties with thinking processes, memory, concentration, decision-making, or problem-solving. They may have distorted perceptions of reality, exhibit delusions or hallucinations, or struggle with understanding and interpreting information.
3. Emotional Disturbances: Mental patients often have intense or inappropriate emotional responses to situations. They may experience extreme sadness, anxiety, fear, anger, or irritability that is disproportionate to the circumstances. Mood swings and emotional instability are also common.
4. Distress and Impairment: The disturbances experienced by mental patients must cause significant distress or impairment in their daily functioning. This means that the individual's ability to perform tasks at work, school, or home is significantly affected. They may have difficulty maintaining relationships, participating in social activities, or fulfilling responsibilities.
5. Exclusion Criteria: The disturbances observed in mental patients must not be a result of normal developmental stages or culturally accepted behavior. For example, certain behaviors or emotional reactions may be considered normal in children or specific cultural contexts but would not be considered indicative of a mental disorder.
It's important to note that the diagnosis of a mental patient should be made by a qualified mental health professional based on a comprehensive evaluation of the individual's symptoms, history, and overall functioning.

Describe how health-related components of fitness relate to skill-related components of fitness.
Health-related fitness components, such as cardiac output and muscular strength, have a mutual relationship with skill-related fitness components like agility and coordination. A well-rounded exercise regimen can benefit both, enhancing overall physical, mental, and social health.
Explanation:The health-related components of fitness, including cardiac output, muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, and body composition, interact closely with the skill-related components, which include agility, balance, power, speed, coordination, and reaction time. These two sets of components are mutually beneficial. For instance, maintaining good health through exercise can increase cardiac output, which leads to better physical endurance during tasks requiring motor skills. Improvements in these health-related components can therefore enhance a person's skill-related fitness performance, and vice versa.
For example, when a person engages in regular cardiovascular exercise (a health-related fitness activity), their heart rate improves, thereby enhancing their cardiac output. This, in turn, can improve their performance in activities that require endurance and speed (skill-related fitness components), such as distance running. Conversely, practicing motor skills, like coordination and balance (skill-related aspects), can boost a person's physical fitness by enhancing their flexibility and muscular strength, thereby optimizing health-related fitness.
To optimize both aspects of fitness, a well-rounded regimen incorporating various exercises addressing both health-related and skill-related components is beneficial. Not only does this approach support overall physical fitness, but it also contributes to mental and social health by boosting self-confidence, reducing stress, and fostering social connections through team and group activities.

Which are clinical findings usually associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus?
A. Polyuria
B. Polydipsia
C. Polyphagia
D. Obesity
E. Weight gain
Answer:
A. Polyuria
B. Polydipsia
C. Polyphagia
Explanation:
Diabetes Mellitus is a clinical disorder in which there unregulated rise in blood glucose levels, either due to insufficient secretion of insulin(Insulin is an hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreas. Its function is to convert excess glucose to glycogen for storage. Its function is counter by glucagon which converted glycogen back to glucose). by the pancreas(type 1) or failure of the insulin receptors to respond to insulin. In either case the insulin failed to facilitate the entry of glucose into the cells, for glucose cellular utilization. Therefore excess glucose is wasted in urine.
As excess glucose is wasted by the kidney, this reduces the solute potential glomerular fluid as glucose molecules are passed/excreted into the glomerular fluid at the PCT ,thus water follows by osmosis, leading to production of large volume diluted urine. This condition is called Polyuria.
Hence, as the water potential of the plasma and the blood rise because of reduced solute potential due to loss of glucose, more water molecules are lost in the kidney by osmosis and in urine. This leads to excessive thirst;Polydipsia
As more glucose molecules are lost in the urine, the cells, especially of the brain lacks glucose for cellular metabolisms, therefore hunger sets in this is Polyphagia.(The brains cells depends on glucose for major physiological activities)
your body needs to convert carbohydrates into energy.
